High school. This one word can mean either the best days of your life, or the worst. It depends on how you dealt with the obstacles thrown at you. During the past few years of high school, I can honestly say that I have changed a lot, not just physically, but mentally I have becomes strong enough to ( ).In my experience, these circumstances shaped me into the positive and intelligent individual I am today. A prominent challenge that every person must face in high school, especially as a freshman, is accepting others and oneself. Acceptance is a skill that you have to obtain in order to progress in life. There were times when teachers, thought I was not smart enough, my classmates did not have faith in me, and my closest friends looked
High school, however, changed everything for me. I started having experiences and opportunities that helped me realize that I had more possibilities and potential than my younger self could have ever realized. I threw myself into everything that came my way so that I could learn what I
Contemplating back on my high school journey, I began to recognize and appreciate the life changes I experienced and the imperative lessons I learned throughout those four years. If I had to choose several words to describe my high school experience, I would begin with eventful, challenging, and memorable. High school afforded me many experiences that continuously led to stressful and challenging encounters. Being involved with the Ambassador Program and the National Honor Society was one of the greatest decisions I made in high school. Both clubs provided me with numerous life-changing opportunities that will continue to have an impact on me for a lifespan.
During the past three years of my high school years, I have been taking various rigorous classes, which all share a similar purpose which is to strengthen my skills and be ready for entering college, taking college courses and excelling in them. Moreover, during the past three years, I have been challenging myself by taking rigorous classes, having an A in all classes, and maintaining being ranked one of the top students in my school. In addition, to excelling in all my classes, at the same time I am able to work occasionally on my own throughout the school year, as well continue my hobbies, such as photography and riding my ATV, which serve as a time away from academic work and a stress reliever, enjoying life, and finding my passion. Through my high school years, I have learned various skills, which have helped me grow as an individual and prosper both outside and in academic work. Thus, I feel well prepared for what I plan to do next year, which is continuing to take AP classes and excel in them, as well being involved in various clubs, and helping the community. Moreover, I have been constantly pushing myself to my fullest potential and exceeding all expectation and standards, thus I feel prepared for what I am going to face next year. In addition, I arranged my schedule for next year strategically in the way that I will still manage to excel in my rigorous classes and have a large amount of time to be involved in various extracurricular activities, and help the
How I changed from this semester to the end of the semester is that I am not turning in late work anymore because I have learned my lesson with all my teachers. I used to turn in a lot of late work and they would not count it as a grade.
Throughout my high school career I have had many ups and many downs. High School by far has been the biggest challenge I’ve ever had to overcome. Freshman year and sophomore year were my easiest years academic wise but my junior and senior years have been very challenging. But while facing these challenges I have learned many things that may be helpful for those future seniors who are trying to get through high school.
I should be grateful that I was accepted into any high school. Although it was not my initial choice of high school, I should work my hardest there. In fact, any high school was fine as long as I put in all my effort to study and learn. A certain high school should not brand a person as a certain way, but rather the effort that the person gives. With a burning passion, I swore to myself that if I don’t get accepted to something and I put in my best effort, it will be alright. A chance will come along and I won’t beat myself over it.
This might be one of the hardest things, I will do in group because I have learned so much about myself. I have no idea what you went and are going through on a day to day basis. I can not begin to imagine the feeling you had about me when you came home to the first search warrant. You could have felt; disappointed, sad, hurt, shocked or let down.
This week was exciting for me. I am actually going to be in the classroom three times this week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I am excited to see what happens on Friday because it will be a new day and will be full of new adventures. We also get to dress up like a character from Because of Winn Dixie; I plan on being Ms. Franny the librarian. One high from this week was I taught my first lesson and it went really well. The students loved my lesson they had so much fun and their reactions were hysterical. My cooperating teacher also gave me positive feedback on my lesson and she said that she could tell the students really enjoyed my lesson. One of the most exciting parts of my lesson however, was the ending when we had our discussion. I could tell that the students had really learned the importance of adding detail and specifics to their sequencing writing. One low from the week was that I had to have a discussion with one of my students about respect. The teacher then confronted the student and they had to write me a note apologizing for being disrespectful. I hope that I will still be able to build a strong relationship with this student, and that our relationship is not strained because of this interaction. Even
Throughout my high school years my grades were terrible. I struggled in all my classes. Until they put me in a community school from their i started to stay after school finishing all my work i even made it back to regular high school. I also went from a 2.03 to a 3.2.
As a 16 year old, my knowledge and views about the world are very different from those of someone who is older or younger than I. I posses the average expected knowledge that a typical Junior in high school holds. I can read and write, solve certain math problems, and understand what requirements are needed of me to graduate high school. Along with knowing standard academic skills, I know certain skills that help me approach daily life situations. I know how to write a check, babysit for a child, and drive. All these abilities are skill sets that I learned at a specific moment in my life and my age greatly affects that. For example, I did not learn how to read until I was about 4 or 5 years old, I also did not know how to drive until I was 15.
During my time at the high school I managed to learn different and important skills that will be essential and that I will apply later in life. Two of the important skills that I managed to learn were demonstrating personal management and teamwork skills and to listen actively and speak clearly and coherently. I performed these skills in many classes that I took in high school, like math, english, science, also college classes. By using personal management and teamwork skills, I can use it while working in teams when you get to handle the situation that is going on and by getting to all work together and have different ideas to finish or make the project better with everyone's ideas. You get to combine uncommon ideas within each other and use
I learned how to read at the age three. My mom and dad would read books and point at the words while they say the words.
My high school experiences have become imprinted into my memory and parts of me. I changed entirely from the first day I walked in as a freshmen to the last day I walked across the stage with my diploma. Not only do I look different but I act, think, and understand differently. I realize now that an individual’s character is largely constructed by other people’s opinions, unwritten rules, and a subliminal hierarchy. The reality of high school makes it difficult to escape the ideal image of a perfect student, friend, respectful significant other, and model child. With all these different forces pulling students back and forth, the primary goal is to be accepted; despite how much change one must undergo. From my high school experiences I know how to deal with labelling, peer pressure, alienation, and cliques. Thus my former high school social lessons and knowledge allow me to reshape my perception, values, and self-image to this day.
The things that i’ve learned in 8th grade has changed my life, because in algebra i’ve learned approximately 10 new ways of solving equations. In science I learned how it feels to get good grades. Finally in English Language Arts (ELA) i’ve learned about how to write better, and all the different techniques.
Waiting in line to go through customs I didn 't want to think about all all the things I would have to do. Support myself financially, find a place to live, figure out how to start college. It all seemed overwhelming. I immigrated on my own to US when I was seventeen. The transition was difficult, and I considered returning back to India. Even though it would have been easier to return, staying provided better opportunities. As I grappled with my new environment and struggled to acclimate. Two experiences played a pivotal role in shaping my character. First, the support I received from family and friends. The second, my work with adolescent youth. Through these I understood the importance of support and the joy of providing it. The
