In 1997, James Cameron produced and directed the still prominent movie, “Titanic”. This is truly one film I can watch time after time and still be amazed by not only the acting, but also the wardrobe, famous lines, and special effects.
DiCaprio and Winslet are certainly a pair I would love to see in more films together. Their onscreen chemistry is so intriguing it could make any film worthy of great success. The makers behind the film really did an amazing job showing us many aspects of life in the early 1900’s. Dicaprio was shot to be a poor, basically homeless man who gambled his way onto the ship. Winslet was a girl whose family was wealthy but she was still being forced to marry a man for even more certain wealth for her family. Cameron even managed to apply old slang and lingo to many of the characters in the movie. For example, would start sentences off with, “May I”, or “Pardon me miss”. These two characters were from completely different planets of life but since the moment they met they had an intense chemistry that melted the way into many viewers hearts.

From the little kids, to the low class people on the ship, up to the wealthy most certainly depicted the style in the early 1900’s. It was almost quite strange to see the big broad exaggerated hats the women with wealth would wear as well as the tight corsets and colorful gowns to almost every activity of daily life. The wealthy men were always in suits with accessories like canes or pipes. The low class outfits would consist of old looking neutral colored attire with wrinkly button up shirts or shorts and shabby fedoras or suspenders as accessories. Even at certain moments you would see the little kids with worn out teddy bears on their
Moreover, one extremely crucial part of the movie was both Winslet and Dicaprio’s acting. Together, they gave you an ocean of feelings and a rush of desire, as the actors undeniably turn into their character during the film - it is utterly awe-inspiring. Their performance is so realistic that it allows you to feel as though you won tickets to board the Titanic as well. It is hard to believe that they were actors and not two young adults who started off on a journey together after crossing paths on a ship. The remarkable
This shows that not only Cameron was a good director but also bringing in new innovations
A Southern Belle’s fashion impacts the way Americans think of a true southern lady. As a Southern Belle, you were expected to keep up on the newest fashion trends. “Every Southern Belle was expected to be up-to-date on the latest fashions, which often proved tricky and expensive because fashion was constantly changing throughout the nineteenth century” (“The History Engine”). The expectations to keep up with the fashion could have been hard because of the exorbitant prices in their time. A Southern Belle’s clothing tells a lot about them and their social status. “By following the newspapers’ reports, women had easy access to the

Both pioneers of the action-adventure blockbuster film, Spielberg and Lucas would ultimately come to dominate the motion picture industry throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Despite the downfall of independent supremacy enjoyed in the wake of the Paramount Decision, a silver lining existed in this new
A poor, or lower-class, Victorian most likely would have bought their clothes from a second-hand shop; they might have also been cut down from adult cast-offs.(Mitchell137) On the other hand upper-class Victorian would wear much wealthier clothing. There were three main social classes during the Victorian era, which were the upper class on the top, then the middle class, and finally the working class. The upper class wore fancy, expensive, and eye-catchy clothes, which showed their wealth within them. The women in the upper class was the fanciest of all, wearing blouses and dresses that were decorated with embroiders and laces. The styles of dress changed over times, starting from corsets and petticoats that emphasized the waist, and ending up with bustles that emphasized the hips. The men wore top hats, collared shirts, trousers, and jackets that were in plain colors. The jackets sometimes had check and striped patterns. The middle class were similar as the upper class, but weren’t as fancy as them. The dresses were more simpler and daily-based than the upper class, with plain tunics and simple dresses. Their clothes still had fluffy laces on the blouses and tunics, but the dresses were rather flowy than fluffy. The men wore simple tunics and jackets with small top hats. Finally, the working class’ clothing mainly emphasized on comfort. The women wore ragged and cheap clothes with no decorations, and were those simple clothing that made them easy to move. This meant no corsets, petticoats, and bustles. The men wore plain shirts and trousers, and if they had enough money, they wore coats and
The working class of women had to endure rough working conditions in able to barely get by in the slums of New York. Often times they were crammed into little tenements and their whole $3 paycheck went to lodging. One of the effects were that the women looked rough and ragged because they didn't have enough money to spare for proper clothing, "Their brows are knit; their eyes are sunken; their dress is flimsy, and foolish and tawdry; always a hat; and feather or soiled artificial flower upon it; a greasy dress, well-worn sacque or shawl, and a gilt breast pin and earrings." (Fern 596).

It was customary to wear black in those situations as queen Victoria herself did. The Victorians often emulated Queen Victoria and followed the trends which she had started. In the scene all the men are either standing or sitting on a window pane while all the seated people are women. This connotes clear gender role allocation between gentleman and ladies as the ladies are offered the seats. Gender also plays a role as women were meant to be pretty and cheerful hence the white draping dresses worn by the other women. There are elements of the domestic life and weakness and flaws lead to social problems. The servants are dressed in clothes to separate them from the higher class people and they generally hover towards the back so as to remain unseen and unheard. You have the lesser people such as the slaves and lower class doing the serving. The men are clean and well-groomed as are the ladies connoting a sense of self improvement and pride. The image as a whole connotes comfort and modern
Upper class fashion was definitely the most voluminous, and heavy style of the three classes. For men’s, women’s, and children’s outfits there were multiple layers, with many different colors, and a large amount of accessories. “Contrasting fabrics, slashes, embroidery, applied trims, and other forms of surface ornamentation became prominent.” (Romanova) For men, the outfits always started with a simple dress shirt similar to dress shirts men wear today, but without the collar. Instead of a fold over collar, there was a drawstring that was tied to form a large ruffle around the neck. Over this dress shirt you would find a doublet. A doublet is a tight jacket-like vest that was meant to make the man look slimmer. It was hip or waist length. Next was the jerkin. A jerkin was a
