What Is Hawaii?

During the summer and winter, many families like to go on vacations to tropical locations in order to take in the beautiful and amazing sights that they might not be able to experience at home. Two popular places to visit are Florida and Hawaii. While many believe that one beach community is as good as any other, there are many differences between Hawaii and Florida that make them suited for different people, depending on what kind of vacation they want to experience. In particular there are differences in the cultures, weather, and attractions of these two beach communities.

Located in the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii and the Hawaiian Islands are the cone-shaped tops of gigantic ocean volcanoes.

Essentially, the key fact that makes the islands of Hawaii so unique and worthy of studying is that nearly the entire mountain range is built entirely by volcanic activity and each island is the top of an enormous volcanic mountain. Maui is the second biggest island in Hawaii, although it has a fairly small population. Hana highway is a popular for its gorgeous views, waterfalls and hairpin turns. Meanwhile, you can watch large whales breach on the shorelines of Lahaina or stand amid the clouds on top of Haleakala. As the largest island in Maui county, this beautiful isle has 144,444 residents.

In the 2010 census 38.6% of people were White, 38.6% were Asian, 10% were Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 1.6% was Black, 1.5% were other races and 23.6% were 2 or more races.

Living on the Hawaiian island of Oahu offers its own beauty like no other island in the chain. No Hawaiian island is the same; each one has something different to offer, equally they all have beaches and hikes. Laniakea beach and Pupukea Beach Park represent two of the best beaches on the North shore for snorkeling, scuba diving and merely playing in the water. Two good hiking trails that are both located on the southeastern side of the island, Makapu’u Point and Maunawili Falls Trail. The island of Oahu is a beautiful and interesting place thanks to its diverse beaches and spectacular hiking trails.

Everyone thinks Alaska is always cold, even in summer. Well you thought wrong! In the winter it’s cold, yes, very, very cold. But in the summer, Alaska gets warm, like in the eighties.
