Sherlock Holmes
Imagine you are walking home, when a cluster of police start to chase you. This all happened when Sherlock Holmes let Ryder and Cusack free. Now you’re being framed for a crime you didn’t commit. In my opinion, Sherlock Holmes positively made the wrong decision by letting them go. In the first place, stealing is stealing and if you steal, you should be punished for it. They also framed you and got away with the crime they committed. If someone steals five hundred dollars or one thousand dollars, they should still be punished for the crime. If someone steals a jewel or steals a goose they’re still always punished for the crime. They blamed this crime they committed on the plumber because he has a criminal record, and the authorities
During one’s life, they will be faced with situations that can influence the people surrounding them. The Kite Runner written by Khaled Hosseini a novel based on the life of Amir, the son of a well-off Pashtun. Amir spends the majority of his life trying to please, and receive affection from his father, Baba. Amir and Baba had two Hazara servants; Hassan, and Ali, Hassan’s father. Hassan and Amir have been friends since birth despite their different social classes. Hassan has always gained the affection of Baba with less effort than Amir has, and for that reason, Amir begins to resent Hassan. After a series of unfortunate events, Ali and Hassan made the decision to leave the company of Baba and Amir to start a new life in Hazarajat. Later
In his book, The Book Thief, Markus Zusak uses an interesting approach to attract readers into his book that is about a girl trying to learn to read in Nazi Germany from the perspective of Death. He does this by employing many different literary devices. Some examples of these are foreshadowing, diction, and irony.
“Words can light fires in the minds of men” (Patrick Rothfuss). Author, Markus Zusak, in his novel The Book Thief, narrates as Death to show the story of Liesel Meminger, a girl living in World War Two Nazi Germany. Zusak uses literary devices to depict a theme of how words can change the world in order to show their effect on people.
They had already set their mind that these boys committed the crime and used their power to make the boys tell them what they wanted to hear. They used their power to hold the boys at the police station until they “confessed”. The boys did not know of their rights that they had and were detained for a long period of time until they were made to believe that if they were to confess, they could go home. Another way that criminal law was used to control the working class in the documentary is with bail. If someone has money, they can pay for a temporary release from jail. In the film, two boys were able to be released on bail, but three of the boys’ families weren’t able to come up the money, so they had to stay in jail. It is clear that if someone is of the working class, it would be difficult for them to come up with the money because of financial issues. If someone was rich, they would be able to pay the bail or fine without having to worry about providing food on the table or paying bills. Because of this, it seems like these criminal laws are set up to benefit those who are wealthy and weed out those that are poor. Those associated with the lower class are usually associated with crime and violence and because of that, these criminal laws are targeted towards a group of people who are at a disadvantage.
Liesel most definitely could have trusted Rudy with the secret of having Max hidden in her basement. Rudy was clearly Liesel’s best friend and partner in crime when Liesel was doing her acts of thievery stealing the books from the mayor’s wife bookself. The devotion to Liesel Rudy also had was strong and I believe Liesel could have trusted Rudy.
So far for me, one of my favorite part is chapter 41, when Zero confess to Stanley about the whole story of stealing Clyde Livingstone’s shoes. There are two reasons why I like this part. First reason is because of Zero’s confession, everything make sense, and also this event eventually predict that Stanley will get out from the Camp Green Lake somehow. Therefore, I was able to ease my tension and enjoy reading this novel. Second, the reason why I like this chapter is because I could see how Zero trust Stanley more than before by telling him about his own family. However, I really dislike the part when the Warden shines the light toward Stanley and Zero when they found suitcase from the hole. Because of the Warden’s previous behavior, I knew
One factor that enabled Holmes to get away with his crimes was the growth of the city. Chicago was rapidly growing in population with people going in and out all the time, so his murders weren’t noticed. If Holmes were in smaller, less populated town, the disappearances of people would have been more noticeable. Also, the police worried about pickpockets more than women who were reported missing, so Holmes wasn’t investigated. Additionally, serial killers weren’t very common at the time, so when women associated with Holmes disappeared, other tenants in his building usually did nothing about it. This was mostly because they knew the women had developed feelings and relationships with Holmes, so they wouldn’t suspect he had anything to do with
Have you ever been accused of something you swear you didn’t do? Well this is a story similar to that. In my opinion, Sherlock Holmes positively made the right choice letting Rider go due to Riders first crime.
When Sherlock Holmes went undercover at the opium den, he was altering his identity and acting as a lower class citizen, therefore, being a possible risk for destabilizing the identity within the system. As Holmes disguised himself as completely unidentifiable by looking like a,” … very thin, very wrinkled, bent with age, an opium pipe dangling down from between his knees, as though it had dropped in sheer lassitude from his fingers” (pg.3), it changed his presumed class, for others assumed he was a drug addict that had lost all self control; he even ended up tricking Watson into believing his identity while uncover before revealing himself. Holmes’s performance was intended for his job and protecting the Empire, therefore, none of these action’s
Sherlock Holmes, as a private investigator, is not confined to the law when determining justice for the criminal. He in no way can be said to be closely tied to the police, as is evident in his irritation with them in certain investigations such as “The Adventure of the Abbey Grange.” It is evident that Holmes believes he is mentally superior to the police force of London, priding himself on always being one step ahead of them. In “A Scandal in Bohemia” Holmes states to Watson that he and the police force “see, but… do not observe” (Doyle 146) while Holmes does observe, giving him the ability to solve seemingly insolvable cases. However, he does work with the police to help them close cases when need be.
In my opinion, Sherlock Holmes did the wrong thing by letting them go. Here are some reasons why he did the wrong thing. In the first place, Ryder got by with the crime once and might try to do a different crime. Ryder stole the carbuncle from inside the goose where they found it.
In the first place, it is against the law to let criminal’s go. First reason, they framed an innocent man knowing he had a criminal record so that gives you the information that planned the crime all out. Second reason, they admitted to everything, about the goose, the carbuncle, and the framing. Third reason, Sherlock Holmes had all the evidence needed to catch Ms.Cusak and Mr. Ryder. Sherlock broke the law by letting
Please tell me what you as a reader think if what Sherlock Holmes did was right or wrong In the first place, I believe Sherlock Holmes did the wrong thing because Ryder Cusack broke the and Sherlock should not of let them go, because that would mean Sherlock broke the law. I also think Ryder should deal with the consequences like a saying he did the crime he should pay the time. It may be the season of loving but he still committed a crime and that is wrong and you should not get a second chance for crime. Sherlock also framed the plumber which was wrong because you can’t assume someone did the crime when the person didn’t actually commit it.
The forms of entertainment we have today represent more than just the superficial elements portrayed for our enjoyment. Any embodiment of literature is merely a reflection of a society’s identity. Through the use of violence and companionship, Guy Ritchie, the director of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, created a distinct plot line that catered to the 21st century values and entertainment; this established a distinction between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel, Sherlock Holmes, because the novel depicted a representation of the Victorian Era’s beliefs, which differ to those in the 21st century.
Why somebody want to stole two places at the same time? What positives effects have this event to the owners? . Maybe, the owners planned this robbery, the reason, they wanted that his business were more popular in the community, so they hired two people the same physical apparent and using same clothes to stole the property and remove, valuable paintings and money. The owners promised to the thiefs men do not involve the police in the case or any another investigation, just shallow questions.
