Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
People shouldn’t have any rights to abuse or neglect animals and get away with it easily. Animal abuse is a big conflict because some people get away with these acts in which they don’t get punished or little punishment while the animals don’t get to live happy lives and suffer. Hiding in pain that these occurrences that happened to them with procide over and over again. However, in the article “Frequently Asked Questions About Animal Cruelty” by The Humane Society of the United States, it states that “ Animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under the control of others. The motive may be to shock, threaten, intimidate, or offend others or to demonstrate rejection of society's rules. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts they have seen or that have been done to them. Others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against—or threaten—someone who cares about that animal.” (The Humane Society of the United States, 2017) This states that there are reasons why people do what they do to the animals but it still doesn’t give them the right to harm or mistreat them. The article also states that
In America, we come across serious environmental issues about poverty, domestic abuse, ending world hunger ect. Animal cruelty isn’t one of those topics that isn’t being put out there more. We see it all around like the commercials on tv that tell you to donate money to help the poor stray dogs. People don’t see how much damage we can cause to them, but if we got together we can help stop this madness. In the article, Counting cruelty: Challenges and opportunities in assessing animal abuse and neglect in America it briefly says “Cruelty to animals is a crime.” (Lockwood 87). Laws were made for this problem way back. Our laws help keep society in a proper place with no hysteria.Which means people like us should pay attention more to our surroundings.
" Most cases are never reported and most animal suffering goes unnoticed and unabated." I believe everyone should report animal cruelty because no one should suffer abuse or neglect. " Although there is no national report Ming system for animal abuse media reports suggest that it is common in rural and urban areas.'' We shouldn't harm creatures just for fun it's not right we should report all crimes so we can protect and save as many as we can. " The HSUS estimates that nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in connection with domestic violence 50 states currently have felony provisions within their animal cruelty laws." These laws protects as many animals as they can which is a great
Often times, people think of animals as another member of their family. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Every year, there are nearly one million animals getting abused and suffering at the hands of human beings. Animal cruelty occurs when someone harms or ignores an animal purposely. “The most common types of abuse are neglect, hoarding, shooting, fighting, beating, etc” (Humane Advocate N.p.). There have been cases in which justice has been served, such as the case of Michael Vick. Sadly, there are many cases in which justice is not fully served. However, there are organizations that are committed to helping these innocent animals such as Peta, to end animal cruelty. Based on studies and animal shelters, it is evident that animal
Animal abuse and cruelty does not just specialize in just one type of animal. It is more diverse that it is right. Animal abuse can mean many different things, like an animal tied to a tree or something where they do not have the mobility that they need or have access to food and water. It can also mean making animals fight till one or both can no longer stand up for themselves of till one of them is dead or not both. Another type of animal cruelty or abuse is poaching whales for their blubber or rhinos or elephants for the horns or tusk to sell on the black market. There actually is a lot more kinds of animal abuse and cruelty like trophy hunting, testing harsh chemicals and products on animals, also with the food we consume; some of those animals never get to see the light of day or get to breath fresh air. Luckily there are some groups or organizations out there who want to help and are willing to. Just to name a few there is the Humane Society, ASPCA, PETA, and the United States of Americas Congress. So much has happened recently that the US has broken it down into four categories, simple or gross neglect; intentional abuse and torture; organized abuse, including dogfighting and cockfighting; and animal sexual abuse (Fricker, Peter. "Increase Penalties for Animal Cruelty; it's Now a Felony in U.S.").
For many years, animals have been getting abuse all over the world. Animals are not getting the right treatment that they deserve. All over the world there are law enforcements for this crime. Animal Cruelty and Neglect is an issue that not everyone looks at or pays attention to. Those who are neglecting these species should receive a form of punishment due to them thinking that it’s just a senseless act. Connections of human violence and animal cruelty are under looked within family lifestyles. Unintentional, intentional, and cruel intention all maybe the forms of prior human abuse that can disrupt the future decisions.
Animal abuse is known as “…socially unacceptable behavior that inflicts pain and suffering on animals” (Girgen 2014). There is no legal definition for animal abuse because of the various laws throughout the world. Animal abuse is seen as unpleasant acts upon animals which could result in legal punishment. There are many ways for an animal to be abused whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally. Most animal abuse cases cannot be investigated unless proven because abusers do not confess and animals have no way to respond. There should be harsher punishments for animal abuse because animals are harmless unless tempted to be otherwise, abuse is a cruel act, and too many abusers are free.
There are many ways animals can be victims to cruelty. The two main ways are: dog fighting and animal neglect and abuse. Dog fighting is a felony in all 50 states, and animal neglect and abuse is illegal in every state.
One has to know what animal cruelty is before they can fight it affectively. Every day in the United States, animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to struggle for survival. (LearningToLive.org 1)We must stand as one to help these animals and punish their heartless owners (LearningToLive.org 1). We must speak out for them, if now us who? (LearningToLive.org 1). According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) animal cruelty is defined as “Acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals are considered animal cruelty,” according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). (aldf.org 1).
Animal neglect or abuse is a crime and should be treated and punished as such, no one should get away with endangering or abusing an animal. While thinking of animal abuse being a crime or felony people may have may questions such as, what is a crime? what exactly is animal abuse? or why should I care about animal rights? Although there may be an array of different questions asked about this specific topic but animals should be treated like humans, since both humans and animals are living beings. Abuse to any living being is highly unacceptable and could possibly be a danger for anyone. “Reporting, investigating, and prosecuting animal cruelty can help take dangerous criminals off the streets” (By the Time) this is because most people who grow
Animal Cruelty is a major problem in today's society, and the consequences of these actions are not as severe as the consequences should be. These crimes should be punishable and equal to human assaults. For example if anyone were to assault a human and get two years, then the person abusing an animal should get two years as well. Animals are living things just as humans are so the crimes should be equal in punishment. Several animal crime punishments are dependent on the severity of the crime which is not acceptable. They should be two year minimum if anyone decided to hurt an animal, it would be the right consequence to hurting a living creature. There are several types of animal abuse in today's society, such as dog fighting, hoarding, puppy mills (animal breeding) and other cruel acts of torment. Dogfighting is one of many acts of torture upon animals which has become a huge problem due to the fact that people do it to entertainment themselves or for a profit. The ASPCA said “Dog fighting is often associated with other forms of criminal activity including illegal gambling and possession of drugs and firearms. By our estimate, there are tens of thousands of dog fighters in the U.S., forcing hundreds of thousands of dogs to train, fight, and suffer every year” (ASPCA 2017). Another major issue that abuses animals is animal hoarding in the United States, with certain people not knowing when enough is enough. For example most people who hoard animals are not usually aware of how many animals are on the premises and that they are in fact hurting the animal instead of making a difference in these animals’ lives. In addition the ASPCA has found that, “Every year in the United States, a quarter of a million animals fall victim to hoarding” (ASPCA 2017). Another type of animal cruelty that not to many people think about are the puppy mills, which are just dog breeding factories who care about nothing but the profit of the puppies. When people go into the malls and they purchase a puppy from the pet store, these people may not realize but are helping the people who run the puppy mills make a profit and continue to hurt these innocent animals. “In addition, puppy mill puppies often arrive in pet stores and in their
You watch the news. You see a dog fighting ring busted, a hoarder’s house being cleaned, and an animal testing site uncovered. You probably didn’t know this, but these are all examples of animal abuse. Millions of animals are hurt, suffering, and eventually dying because of animal abuse.
The shocking number of cruelty cases reported daily on the television, on the internet, and in newspapers is just the tip of the sociopathic iceberg. Most cruelty cases go unreported, and animals continue to suffer. The crimes against animals are not taken as seriously as
