What are Emotions?
What are emotions and do they affect those we relate to in our daily lives. Webster’s Dictionary describes emotions as an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, or the like is experienced. One can easily see emotions are a strong surge of feelings. These feelings could be happy, sorrowful, joyful, and anxious. You know these feelings and have probably experienced them all from time to time. Different situations will affect our emotions and cause them to change, but can our emotions affect the people that surround us? Do people adjust their attitudes and emotions according to those they are around? In Alice Walker’s, “Am I Blue,” she is deeply affected by the horse and the different

They will become excited about learning. Also this may enhance their curiosity and make them more eager to learn. There will usually be less disputes and behavioral issues in a classroom facilitated by a positive teacher. This positive mood can be felt by his/ her students because he/ she is enthusiastic, uses more patience, and exudes a livelier and caring environment. On the other hand, students can sense when a teacher is tired, depressed, worried, or experiencing any type of negative emotion. Usually when a teacher or anyone is upset it is written all over their face. Teachers tend to be more guarded with their words, they may not say as much due to fear of acting out their emotion. They are not as relaxed and tend to be less tolerant. They may not overlook something that they typically would because they are exercising less patience than if they were feeling other positive emotions. Just as a positive mood affected the children in a positive way, a negative mood will affect the students in a negative way. Some children are very sensitive to our moods while others are oblivious to it.
The reactions of the children will be different depending on the child. Although gender does not seem to be a controlling factor, age does. A pre-school or kindergarten aged children are very intuitive, and are very aware of their surroundings and their environment. They will always notice any type of change. Due to their age and their
Emotions are used in our everyday lives help us understand and comprehend a situation. The way we feel can affect the way we think through a situation and the situation that we make. Our emotions are expressed when we play sports, when a loved one dies, or when we see our newly born baby for the first time. Emotions are a state of consciousness like joy, sorrow, fear, hate, and love. Whenever we are presented with a situation, our brain responds in feelings, and our feeling determine what will happen next.
The teacher sets the “emotional framework” in the classroom by the use of body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, and verbal and nonverbal communication. It sets the tone when the teacher comes into teaching and learning. Children are very sensitive when it comes to adult moods and attitudes. The teacher mood and tone reflects to the classroom. Children will see the tone of voice and mood the teacher shows. When giving out calm and confidence of tone to the classroom, then the classroom won't be out of control. It is based on how the teacher's tone is giving out to the classroom and the children. When the teacher gives out happy facial expressions the children will realize that the teacher is happy with the children's surroundings.
A. The teacher classroom manages the classroom in an extremely positive manner, and is strong on positive reinforcements. When she speaks to her students, her voice is soft and calm which allows her students to remain calm to correct their behavior. Students are aware of the classroom expectations and the proper behavior when they are working with other students. When the class is transitoning between activities she is clear with what they are expected to do, and how it should look like. When the whole class is not able to complete the task she does ask them to correct the behavior and allows them a second opportunity to successfully transition. Positive classroom management shows that students behave in a positive way and are less likely to
Our emotions in many cases affect our perception of events as well as the actions that we take ourselves by permeating our way of thinking, and therefore affecting each thing that we do in that moment. In particular, emotions about the perception of ourselves have been shown to have both the ability to positively and negatively affect our actions and performances in life. This is what can be
Sadness, fear, and anger are emotions that many people view as strictly negative. Society assumes these emotions’ only purpose is to damage people’s lives, and because these emotions are viewed as harmful, many people try to avoid them. However, these emotions are not given the credit they deserve. People encourage others to be optimistic and positive, but human beings are not supposed to be always happy. Negative emotions are surprisingly significant because they offer many benefits that positive emotions do not, but positive emotions are necessary as well. People’s lives are supposed to have a balance of each emotion in order to stay mentally and physically healthy. Even though people attempt to be happy all the time, they should accept
Dance is the beginning of the unit and therefore serves as an introduction to mental and emotions.
Emotions are used in everyday life, whether it be just a simple smile that makes happiness disperse in your brain, or a death of a loved one that causes sadness. The basic emotions are joy, interest, surprise, sadness, anger, disgust, contempt, fear, shame, and guilt. The way we see emotion in ourselves and others can be very complex because we sometimes assume they feel a certain way just based on their actions or even facial expressions. When emotion is discussed in psychological terms, it is not based on one thing, instead it’s a mix of bodily arousal, expressive behaviors, conscious experience. Many theories try to explain how emotion works.
In contrast, emotion is a strong feeling which is shown and connects to other factors such as a person’s circumstances, mood or relationships with others. However, individuals who interact with people and things as part of their daily lives, play a part in anybody’s emotional state, making them feel positively or negatively about that experience.
Unfortunately, misbehavior overshadows positive and compliant behaviors. Teachers should realize that successful classroom management requires a teacher with an overt strategy to recognize, acknowledge, and reward the behaviors that he or she wants to flourish. We should understand that affirmation is the most positive behavior of all. Every student needs to feel that he or she will be accepted even when his/her behavior is not. Teachers should constantly model positive reinforcement for students by encouraging good behavior in the classroom. We should always think to give four positives with any corrective feedback given. (Jim Fay, David Funk, 1995) Positive Classroom Management is a set of proactive strategies that create a structured
Ultimately, they choose not to see the world, but the heart and soul of each individual child that is in their classroom. As a teacher it is important to treat the doorway to your classroom as a barrier.; a barrier that you cannot pass through with outside baggage. When you come into your classroom you can no longer worry about the “world” and all of its variables, your focus must be dedicated to your students. If a teacher were to allow negative reinforcers impact their emotions, then they are might not be able to teach at their full potential. The teacher will now have become corrupted in the sense that they are no longer faithful, tolerant, or loving; they are no longer a junzi. They are now seeing more of the world and letting it affect their inner happiness, and letting it influence their teaching attitude for the
Emotions are an important part of the human being life. When humans express their emotions, they are displaying everyone else how they really feel about the current situation. Emotions are a big stitching to the quilt of shared humanity. When humans share their emotions, they find other humans who are also having these same emotions. Emotions allow humans to show how they are feeling about an event or situation and allow others to understand how they are feeling as well.
There are several functioned emotions that will be analyzed in this paper. Psychological emotional arousal and cognitive activity can be very important. At least two historical theories of emotion and arousal as they relate to human motivation such as; American psychologist Stanley Schatcher as well Jerome Singer’s theory will be examined. There will be at least two research methods used for uncovering basic emotions analyze such as; Johnson-Laird and Oatley. Facial feedback hypothesis, particularly the event-appraisal-emotion sequence will be discussed as well. Other information and knowledge will be shared and discussed too. There are different expressions in an individual that can sometimes or most of the time determines
It's important to consider the affective part of teaching (social/emotional domain) because children are born with all types of personalities. They come from many different backgrounds and lifestyles. As a teacher you need to help encourage them socially and emotionally, so they will have an understanding of themselves, and are able to be caring and respectful to others. A teacher can do that in many ways.
The things I carry are largely determined from peoples or situations. Among the people that affect my emotions are teachers, my friends, my family, and people I hate but all together they are still people the emotions I have vary from them people I hate obviously make me angry to a point I scarcely know myself, friends make me happy because I know there is someone out there that I can actually talk and have fun with, my family well they give me nothing but pure happiness no strings attached because I love them with all of my heart I would do anything for them I would even give my life to them. The situations that affect me are as follow death I am no good with death I either get sadistically weird or disgusted by it or
Emotions are part of a management system to co-ordinate each individual's multiple plans and goals under constraints of time and other resources. Emotions are also part of the biological solution to the problem of how to plan and to carry out action aimed at satisfying multiple goals in environments, which are not always predictable. Emotions are based on non-propositional communications that can be called 'emotion signals’. An interesting aspect of research is “Can emotions exist and exert influence at the unconscious level?” Freud's view was that emotions could not be unconscious, that their experience is bound with the conscious experience, and that only predispositions towards certain emotions can exist in the
