Her family had already had a musical reputation as her mother was Cissy Houston and her cousin was Dionne Warwick. In 1978, she had sung with her mother as a backing vocalist in the song, ‘Every Woman’. From there she had also sung as a backing vocalist with many different artists. In 1985 she released her first album ‘Whitney Houston’ and it had become the biggest selling album at the time.
