Romeo and Juliet In the well known tragedy by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet , two teenagers from opposing families have “fallen in love”. They quickly and irrationally get married by Friar Lawrence, who is a trusted adviser to the both of them. Everything is working fine until Romeo and Juliet's cousin fight, and Tybalt dies. Juliet is grieving over Tybalt's death, but even more disturbed by Romeo’s banishment. After being secretly marrying Romeo and him gone, her parents tell her to marry Paris, in attempt to regain happiness in the family once again. After being counseled by the Friar, Juliet decides to fake her death. Romeo does not receive the message explaining this, and quickly rushes to Juliet’s tomb. But the people truly responsible might not be so easily recognized. Throughout the play both Romeo and Juliet act irrationally, even to the point of being selfish. In the first stages of a relationship, love can often be compared to an addiction. This quote from Knoji explains why this can be a dangerous thing, “This is the stage of love when we see people act the most irrational, impulsive and emotional;” (Knoji). In this state of mind people can do things they might not have done normally. Romeo is a great example for this as he was so fast to react to the rumor of Juliet's Death, that he did not pay attention to the fact she was just in a deep sleep. His behavior might have had something to do with the stress his body was under. “Adrenaline increases heart rate, This tends to make us particularly impulsive and irrational because it tells our body it better act quick or it's going to lose everything.” (Knoji). Romeo acted on an impulse because he was afraid to live without Juliet. This irrational behavior in turn lead to Juliet’s waking up to find him dead beside her, and her killing herself because of
