There are tragedies everywhere and everytime, with these tragedies you have to blame someone or something for it. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare they’d blame fate instead of themselves because they could have been responsible for the disaster they caused. Romeo was to blame for the misfortune in the city of verona. Romeo’s responsible for his hastiness, responsible for the deaths that happened in under 3 days and Convincing Friar Lawrence to get Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo’s hastiness was to blame because when he met Juliet for the first time he went to kiss her, here is what Romeo said “Then move not while my prayer’s effect I take (kisses Juliet) Thus from my lips, by thine, my sin is purged.”(1.5.116) Then Juliet asks Romeo if they wanted to get married “If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow.”(2.2.149) Romeo of course said yes and prepared everything with Friar Lawrence.

If only Romeo accepted his duel against Tybalt but he didn’t so Romeo says “Tybalt, the reason that i have to love thee doth much excuse the appertaining rage to such a greeting.”(3.1.63). Mercutio gets impatient of Romeo so he challenges Tybalt to a duel. When mercutio is dying Romeo kills Tybalt for revenge. Romeo was banished from Verona by the prince. An apothecary sells him poison to kill himself in Juliet’s tomb because he never received the letter from Friar Lawrence but he did hear about Juliet dead. When Romeo arrives at the tomb Paris is in the way of killing himself Romeo said to Paris”Wilt thou provoke me? Then have at thee boy.”(5.3.70) Romeo kills Paris. When Romeo sees Juliet dead he kisses her one last time and drinks the poison, before Romeo dies he says this” O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I
Have you’ve ever been included in a major disaster and did not know who to blame? When a tragedy occurs and a numerous amount of people are involved it can be very easy to accuse another. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, it starts as a simple love story until a tragedy occurs that leaves one question, who is really at fault? Friar Laurence is truly to blame for the tragic events because he married Romeo and Juliet, he gave Juliet the plan that lead to her and Romeo’s death, and didn’t tell anyone about the events taking place.
Tybalt challenged Romeo to a fight, but Mercutio stepped in and ended up getting killed by Tybalt. Romeo sought revenge by killing Tybalt. As a result of murdering Tybalt, Romeo got banished from Verona. None of these events would have taken place if the Friar would have thought through his decision to marry Romeo and Juliet.
These three reasons, along with others, prove that Friar Lawrence is to blame for the events that occur in Romeo and Juliet. He married young Romeo and Juliet together, which emotionally tied them to each other. He gave Juliet the escape idea and the sleeping potion. He also failed to inform Romeo of the rescue plan. He could’ve been a very desperate man in search of peace in Verona, but it led to the deaths of many; including those of the star-crossed
In conclusion the person that is to blame the most is Fate. All of the events in the story were caused by Fate and lead to the ending. In this essay you will ask yourself who is to blame in the story Romeo and Juliet for all of the deaths that took place. In the essay you will also be told about three people and things that could be to
Thesis: In Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is the person to blame for Romeo and Juliets tragedy because he married them for the wrong reasons. He also created a risky plan that is part of the reason things ended so badly. Lastly, Lawrence covered up their marriage, which created more problems.
In ¨The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet¨,there seems to be the question of who seems most responsible for the deaths in Romeo and Juliet? I’ve come to the idea that it is the prince, Escalus who caused or atleast could’ve stopped these deaths from ever starting to unfold. He was so anonymous of every problem happening and never took charge of the situation until it concluded. He had to ask of benvolio”who began this bloody fray” when Mercutio and Tybalt were dead. He never had men prepared of any casualties that could happen or any men on patrol so no fight broke out in the first place.
When Romeo goes to the friar to ask Friar Lawerence to marry them he agrees saying, “So smile the Heavens upon this holy act, that after-hours with sorrow chide us not” (II, vi, 1-2) This quote shows that he hoped that the odds will be in their favor. Friar Lawrence was a first optimistic about the marriage hoping it would bring the feuding families together; even though just a few pages before he criticises Romeo for changing his love from Rosaline to Juliet telling him, “Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies, not truly in their hearts but in their eyes” (II. iii. 70-72). Friar Lawrence knew that Romeo’s love for Juliet was only in the eyes and not from the heart. He already doubted Romeo’s youth and immaturity. But he marries them anyway in secret hoping the feuding will
Within every tragic ending, lies at least one or more accomplice. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, many things happen that involve many different people, so it could be hard to pinpoint one person to blame for the deaths of the two young lovers Romeo and Juliet. Romeo, Benvolio, and the Capulet and Montague ancestors are to blame. Romeo is to blame because he acts rashly and does not think things through. Benvolio is at fault because he encourages Romeo to go to a Capulet party where he meets the love of his life. Romeo and Juliet's ancestors are also to blame because they created the feud that resulted in the lover’s tragic end. With so many people playing a part in the relationship, putting the blame on one person is difficult.
A factor to blame in Romeo and Juliet’s death is Friar Lawrence. Romeo asks Friar Lawrence to marry himself and Juliet. Friar Lawrence immediately refuses to marry Romeo and Juliet, but after looking at a cross in the church from a distance he suddenly changes his mind and tells the young Romeo that he will indeed marry the two
Romeo and Juliet believe their relationship is controlled by free will, which means they acted at their own discretion, but it is actually fate which means it was beyond their control. Friar Lawrence and his actions are what led to the deaths of Romeo & Juliet. One reason Friar Lawrence is at fault is because he married Romeo and Juliet secretly for the wrong reason. “In one respect I’ll assistant be; For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancour to pure love” (Shakespeare 105). This quote exposes Friar Lawrence and shows the real reason why he married Romeo and Juliet.
In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet commit suicide. Romeo kills himself with poison. Juliet stabs herself with a sword. However, is there another character to blame for their dramatic actions? Romeo is to blame. Romeo wants to marry Juliet immediately after meeting her, is impatient when waiting for news from the Friar, and murders Juliet’s cousin (Tybalt). Romeo’s impatience causes his own love story to end tragically.
Two star-crossed lovers with an inevitable fate of never being able to live together has their destiny fulfilled when they take their own lives after they soon realized they cannot be together, but refuse to live that way. There were two houses, the Montagues and the Capulets, who both had a terrible feud. Unlucky it was for the only child of the Montagues, Romeo, and the only child of the Capulets, Juliet, to fall in love. The two teens had to hide their love from their families because they knew they would never approve. Eventually after many unfortunate events caused by poor timing, the two ended their lives to be with each other. After mourning the deaths of their children, the two houses ended the feud for good. Time is to blame for the
Students in high schools across the country still study William Shakespeare's plays even though they are hundreds of years old and very hard to read. We do so because these plays still have relevance today. For example, one of the themes of Romeo and Juliet is suicide. Unfortunately, suicide is still very much apart of our society today, especially among teens. When a young person commits suicide one of the first things to happen is that we try to assign blame to one person or one reason.
As Mercutio died he stated “ A plague on both your houses.” after being killed by Tybalt of the capulet family in Scene 12. He is stabbed right under Romeo's arm yet does not fully blame him but both houses. I believe he says this because it is not Romeo’s nor Juliet's fault there is a feud. In the beginning the chorus remarks that there is an “ancient grudge” between both houses.
Is the feud between the two wealthiest families the one to blame for the tragic ending? In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet play we find that two star crossed lovers have found love with each other. They come from two different families that cannot manage to get along with one another. William Shakespeare uses many characters to present how much the Montagues and the Capulets despise each other.
