Romeo and Juliet were two young people from feuding families, who fell in love. Their love was so strong, that they ended up dying for each other. The ironic twist at the end of the story surprised many who had read it. But who is to blame for this tragedy? Many characters in this play could be to blame. We believe that some of the characters to blame are Capulet, Friar Lawrence, plus Romeo and Juliet themselves.

In the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are several significant details that help the reader choose who take the blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. First, the character Friar Laurence should have never married them in the first place. Another important detail is that Friar Laurence it might have ended the feud between the two families they always fighting with each other. The third detail important to the play is that he should have never given Juliet the sleeping drug to make her fake her own death. Finally, the Shakespeare that tells the reader that Romeo has killed himself to be with his love in the afterlife because he couldn’t be with her while she was living. These details are significant because it shows how friar Laurence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet just days after the weeding.

In this essay I will be exploring the reasons as to why some people would argue that a certain person or people are to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

Although Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, there were many people responsible for their deaths. It is arguable that the parents of the two lovers, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet themselves were the most responsible, some could say that the other main characters like Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, the Nurse, and Paris were involved as well. There were many people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, although they took their own lives, they were not all to blame.

In the Prologue (DBQ project, 2013), it talks about the feud by saying “Do with their death bury their parents’ strife. The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love”. This says that the disagreements between the two families will cause their love to be. The prologue continues on by saying “Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,” meaning Romeo and Juliet could not decide nor can they change their fate because it is destined for them to fall into a fatal love because for the feud. In Document C (DBQ project, 2013), Friar Lawrence tells Romeo that “These violent delights have violent ends” meaning they may enjoy this love and it will make them happy for a short amount of time but later they will find out why it will end violent.

What is most responsible for the two lovely lover-Romeo and Juliet’s death? In my opinion, there is no one particular person to really blame on their death. However, it is every single person are should be blamed for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet. If I was answering the question of who were the few most responsible people for their tragedy-it would be three people. Because of people’s decision and different point of view, the people most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are Lady Capulet, Nurse, and Friar Lawrence.

Romeo and Juliet's parents are who to blame for their deaths because the couple's parents hated each other and Juliet had to marry the man her family wanted her to marry. In the story Romeo and Juliet fell in love at a party that Romeo was not supposed to be at but he snuck in anyway. The two fell in love and we're told Juliet must stay away from Romeo because he's a montague. Juliet is head over heels for Romeo but Juliet's father tells her she must marry a man named Paris or she will be disowned by her family. So Juliet gets a potion from Friar Lawrence that allows her to sleep for 42 hours so she can pretend she's dead too run away with Romeo.

The person that i feel is the most to blame for the two lovers lives is Friar Lawerence. Now i know your probably wondering like Anthony how could he be the reasons for there deaths, when he was the only real reason that Romeo and Juliet even had a chance to be anything or a chance to maybe live happily ever after. Now with that being said anything could of caused the deaths such as Paris, themselves or even fate it could have been a hand full of things.

I blame the parent, friar Laurence, and the apothecary for the death of Romeo and Juliet. The parents wanted to choose their love. This led to them both getting something to kill themselves. Romeo got poison that would kill him immediately and Juliet got a drug that makes her seem dead. She would be asleep for 42 hours. I blame the parents because they didn’t want them to be together. Romeo and Juliet’s families were always fighting. Their relationship was automatically being declined. Romeo was a Montague while Juliet was a Capulet. Their families fought for years. They didn’t want their children to marry an enemy. In the text, it says “two unlucky children of these enemy families became lovers and commit suicide.’’ They committed suicide
