Who was to blame in the play Romeo and Juliet? Shakespeare the author of this play, didn’t say who was to blame for both Romeo and Juliet’s death. Therefore it’s the audience's choice to say who’s fault was it. Every character plays a role in their deaths, but it all narrows down to who started everything. I blame Romeo for both his and Juliet's death. There is more than one reason to blame Romeo for his and Juliet’s death, that were caused due to his own actions. Since the beginning when he read the invitation to the servant, it caught Romeo’s eye because Rosaline’s name was on the bottom of list. He says she stands out of all the women at the feast, also he mentions that she is too pretty to die. Right then and there the audience knows that Romeo has total feelings for Juliet. Act one scene five,” If I profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss”. Juliet responds, “Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss”. Romeo responds, “ Have not saints have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?”. Juliet responds,”Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer”. Therefore if he would’ve never went to the feast that wasn’t designated for him none of this tragedy would’ve happened. But the daring of Romeo still went. Romeo had the choice to stop Juliet and him meeting because he knew eventually stuff wouldn’t workout between a capulet and a montague. Throughout the play they got extremely close its unbelievable, Juliet herself said she would die if Romeo wasn’t in her life. That's exactly what happened Juliet played dead, while Romeo not knowing.
