Why Are Forensics Important

Forensics is the use of scientific tests conducted on evidence that is used to aid a criminal investigation. Forensics is so important because without it either the wrong person could go to prison or the police could not arrest anyone, leaving the criminal to remain at large. Forensics allows insight into multiple factors that help catch the criminal behind the crime. Factors like DNA and fingerprinting are the very first piece of evidence to be looked at in an investigation to catch the killer. If the forensic scientists mix something up or misses what they are trained to look for, then they can do a lot of harm to a case. Forensics provides that very important physical evidence that will help the police catch the killer and bring that needed closer for the loved ones of the victim. …show more content…

It can help me get a better understanding and a head start in studying it in college because I will already have some knowledge about the topic. Gaining every piece of knowledge I can will help me make the final decision on if I want to study forensics in college and continue to do it for the rest of my life. There is a little bit of hesitation on my part because I don’t know for sure this is something that I want to continue studying but, every time I read more about forensics, the more I’m learning to love it and want to study it more. I know that in this profession I am going to have to see some pretty awful stuff but that is why all this research and learning about forensics to do this project is so important.
Sharing what I learn about forensics with others not only provides an interest topic for them to get the basics of but, also will help other people learn what kind of evidence is needed. Teaching them could help them learn what to do if they ever stumble upon a crime scene. It can help them know what goes into studying a crime scene and why it is so important to carefully preserve all the evidence they
