There have been many civilizations throughout history. Obviously they’re not all around anymore, this shows that all civilizations have to fall eventually, but how?
Civilizations have been around the world for a long time, this is because all societies have to fall. The main reason they fall is because of the misuse of resources, the corruption of a leader, and tension between different classes/communities in the civilization. There are several different examples of these things corrupting civilizations. Overall, there are many different reasons civilization fall, but the main reason are the corruptio of a leader, the misuse of resources, and tension between the different classes/communities of its civilization. The three main reasons that

In Rome, they would often have poor leaders. The leaders would not address the problems the people were dealing with, they were “out of sight, and out of mind”. “Inheritance of the title of Emperor was unstable; this led to power struggles, violence, and insecurity.” (Manitoba k12 student notebook) When people inherited the crown, that weren’t ready for it, the leader would be seen as corrupted. In Easter Island, the people had absolutely no power. And while this may not necessarily be a bad thing, the leaders on Easter Island made decisions based on how they would be directly affected, and not on how the people of the island would be affected. "In the past, some people on Easter Island, namely the ruling class, were able to destroy other people and their homes, but now some societies can destroy everything” (Peter Tyson) This ability to “destroy other people and their homes” seems to be a downscaled version of the world currently. In Nazi Germany, Hitler, like all dictators, got into the government by making decisions that the people like. But once he got into the government, he abused his power to do things that didn’t help the general public, only who he wanted to help. “Once firmly in power, the leader of this society began planning for the ending of the struggle between the different races of the society.” (Secret Society #1) This “end of struggle” was him eliminating them completely… That’s definitely corruption if I’ve ever seen it. Probably the reason with the most catastrophic results in civilizations. Stories of corrupted leaders in civilizations are the most horrific and memorable. This reason will probably never be taken character, there will always be corrupted people who gain
Many civilizations fail due to human's activity. A famous example would be the Easter Island who failed to see the long-term effects they had on their island. But other civilizations decline is not directly related to human activity.
Societal collapse can be vast within the archaeological context but more generally occurs from conflicting elements that contribute to the downfall of a social collapse due to things such as
Ancient Rome grew to be one of the greatest empires in the world. Constantly gaining land and wealth, by 200 BCE Rome was a mighty giant, spilling over its borders, no longer an unremarkable settlement, but nothing less than a powerhouse (Primary Reasons for “Fall” of Rome). Sorrowfully, all great things must come to an end. In 5th century BCE ancient Rome shattered: The ferocious beast had fallen (Primary Reasons for “Fall” of Rome). As people recall their knowledge of Rome, a key point always comes back into play. How did Rome crash? Why did the grand empire fall? Three vital troubles led Rome to deteriorate: Rome had an attack of lethal, natural disasters and plagues narrowed its population; Rome’s upper class lost their edge; Rome had
First Civilizations proved to be fragile and vulnerable. Mesopotamian city-states were absorbed into larger empires. Egypt suffered a series of foreign conquerors. Indus Valley civilization
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a “perfect” society? Truth is, there are no “perfect” societies due to the many reasons that lead them to fall. So why do societies fall? Many great societies have fallen due to corrupt leaders, scarcity in necessary resources, and sickness. Germany, China, Sierra Leone, and the fictional society of Ember, are all examples of how once great societies fall. All of these societies fell due to corrupt leaders, resource scarcity, and sickness.
Tainter main argument is that the collapse of societies stemmed from the failure of problem-solving institutions. That once these issues arose in the empires, the ruling factions were unable to provide solutions or relief that would provide stability and support the citizens. Furthermore, the societies collapsed they couldn’t adapt the
These reasons, all varied from, The weakening of Rome’s massive army, the rise of Christianity and other Eastern Civilizations. These problems all varied and all lead to Rome declining and eventually falling because of the problems it suffered Politically, Economically and Socially. Rome declined and eventually fell because of the problems it suffered from Political, Economic, and Social problems that it could not fix. The fall of this great civilization left a legacy and will always be known as one of the greatest civilizations to ever exist in the ancient
1. Environmental damage, inability to manage natural resources, and the fragility of certain environments make this one of the largest reasons for collapse.
John F. Kennedy once wrote, “Efforts and courage are not enough without direction.” From this I think he’s saying societies can fall if their not ruled the right way. And some of the societies seemed like nothing could get in their way, but obviously they did because they didn't take good care of them. That goes for a lot of other places also. Great societies fall due to social inequalities, a dysfunctional or corrupt government, a crippled and inflating economy, and over expansion. That’s why Nazi Germany, The Civil Rights Era in America, and Ancient Rome didn't survive.
Many theories have risen as to why the Roman Empire had fallen. Ultimately the empire had fallen to the invasions of barbarians, but most historians believed that it had to have had weakened internally for the barbarians to conquer the once undefeatable Roman Empire. What weakened Rome was the greed of its aristocrats. The upper class that controlled the Roman Empire are what caused the mass population to fall under poverty. Because of this, the economy collapsed, leading to the eventual downfall of the Roman Empire.
Did you know That Rome fell because of the many examples like invasions, military weakness, and weak leadership. These next ideas will give you a clue to how and why Rome fell and as well spit in two. In my opinion, these three ideas are my opinion to why Rome fell.
The first reason why great societies fall is because of the wars that they fought. In When the U.S. went to Iraq, they
What would happen if your civilization fell? “All civilization has from time to time become a thin crust over a volcano of revolution.” In this quote from Havelock Ellis explained that over time a society will “erupt” just like a volcano. There were many different reasons why so many great society's fell. Societies had so many wars that made them weaker and not be able to fight very well. Some societies like the Aztecs, Rome and Mesopotamia had disease or poison problems and increased the population of people. There were economic problems like dividing into city-states which cost a lot of money. Since there were so many wars then society's wouldn't have much time to trade causing some civilizations to struggle by not having what they need to
The are usually many faults in our government and every government whatever type of government it is. Leaders are very important in a society because everyone looks up to the leader, but what happens when the leader is corrupted? Bad things happen when a leader is corrupted, It happened in Germany and in The Maze Runner. In the Glade they have a council of Keepers who run the government. The Keepers are like the CEO of one of the many jobs at the Glade. The Keepers make the laws and vote on issues. Gally is one of the Keepers on the council. Gally is a bully. He threatened to kill Tomas more than once and has hurt other citizens in the Glade. Gally also does not respect their government system. He wants to be the only leader. All of the leaders need to be on the same page, so everything can work right. In this case it wasn’t, which is why the Glade fell.
The Roman Empire was one of the largest ancient empires, until it faced its inevitable end, which plunged the world into the times of castles, plague, and Kings. Causes of the fall are still widely debated among historians, because there are hundreds of possible causes, and some believe differently than others. The fall largely occurred due to Christianity making a divide in the Roman culture, the empire splitting into 2, and imperialism, along with bad political decisions, causing them to lose control.
