Why Criminal Justice? Criminal justice has appealed to me since I can remember, especially the forensics field. I was always interested in science, detail-oriented, compassionate, and a superb problem solver. Also, I always understood that death was something that naturally occurred and it never bothered me much. I remember when I first started watching crime shows. The crime shows have intrigued me so much and I always thought it was the career I wanted to pursue. How they can identify what happened and who did it by small fragments always amazed me. Also to see how far the field has advanced already is amazing; from bertillon measurements to full blown three dimensional reconstruction. If it weren’t for going to school, I would have never found out what I enjoyed. For example, taking Biology two (Anatomy) in eleventh grade helped me figure out that I enjoyed learning about the human body. Which narrowed my search down a little bit. Extracurricular activities helped shape me to be who I am today and also taught me skills that will be necessary in the future. Such as, teamwork, time management skills, problem-solving skills, deliberating ideas, adaptability, and strong relationship skills. I learned teamwork during Sapphires because if we didn’t work as a team it did not look good and was not fun. Time-management was something acquired as you had to be able to do sports while still having enough time for school work. Problem solving skills and adaptability were both learned in junior executive as the prom was moved to a different vendor two days before prom. In dance I deliberated various ideas and it gave me the confidence to do so in the future. Strong relationship skills were built through clubs and sports which will make working with others and collaborating with future bosses …show more content…
After I learned more about the university I enjoyed that I had the opportunity of taking the federal track and that it was a hands-on course. I love the city the campus is located in considering how much there is to do. The campus is absolutely beautiful and feels just like home. I believe I will fit in the best at Point Park and obtain the best
The Criminal Justice system has captivated my desires in choosing this as my career choice. As I learned what it meant to achieve a career goal, I selected Criminal Justice. When individuals think of the criminal justice system, the first images that come to their minds are a judge, jury full of people, the prosecution, and the defense. These images are what make up the courtroom environment, however, no one realizes how skin color affects what happens in the courtroom. I believe in hard work, perseverance, and leadership. If one works hard at something one can achieve anything that they put their mind to. How hard one work shows a lot about their character, especially when no one is watching. I believe that getting involved in extracurricular activities helps me get more involved as a leader among my peers
I believe that Criminal justice institution; it has a weak social control system for our safety, because they are some officers that abuse of their power against the civilians. This affect or impact our society in a large distance in a way that social control system don’t have a strong system to protect use as a United States citizen from some officers that don’t do their job in the right way.

Well to start off by saying that it was something that I thought long and hard about, it just happened. When I started working in the Shelby County Jail in 2001, I had no idea of what I was about to face. Obviously, I did not need a degree to work there just clerical experience and a great personality. About four years later one of my co-workers convinced me to return to school and I did. I could not think of anything else to take up in school so I went with what I am already experiencing at the time, Criminal Justice. Well, after a year and a half or so of many sleepless nights, juggling two small kids, being a single parent, much hard work and dedication on the job and in school, I received my
The criminal justice system has so many areas that interest me. The area that interests me the most is homicide. The reason being is because growing up I use to watch TV shows such as the first 48, Law and Order, and New York City Undercover. These TV shows showed how the criminal justice system works. Some of these shows accurately tell stories of homicide and how law enforcment officers handle the case. I have always been interested in becoming a homicide detective simply so that I can help victims and their family has justice. I feel like the death of a loved one or friend is even harder to deal with when the person who murdered them is still walking the streets. I hope to one day show people that even though the
For one, I am part of multiple extracurricular groups in my school, such as robotics club, the swim team, tutoring club and more. These types of activities allow me to further my social poweress and serve as a way to make me a more well-balanced individual. Furthermore, I am also well versed in the workplace, the examples being working for the City of Toronto as a wading pool attendant and my school’s swim team as a lifeguard. These experiences greatly expands my social horizon and provides me with valuable soft skills that will be essential in QCSYS. Lastly, I compete in a variety of non-academically related activities, such as the Skills Ontario Robotics Competition and the Toronto Catholic District School Board Cardboard Boat Race. The aforementioned activities are important team-building exercise to allow others and me to work cohesively as a team, a skill that is essential for both to QCSYS as well as the highly competitive 21st century
I really enjoy the concepts of the criminal justice system and how it works. I grew up in a family that revolved around emergency units, ranging from EMTS, AEMTS, Prison Guards, Nurses, Police Officers and so forth. Being around that at the time gave me a love for the field. Understanding the codes, the high pace calls, honestly, even the hours. I fell in love with the idea of being able to make a difference in people’s lives, and for example, if I was going to be a police officer that is what I would do.
Criminal Justice has numerous avenues in which to follow so making the choice of what specific field to choose a difficult decision. This is not a choice that should be taken lightly nor in haste but one that should be contemplated and examined closely. I have done an enormous amount of research on many of the fields of criminal justice narrowing it down to three: Forensics, Probation/ Parole and Homeland Security. For me personally, these are the best three choices given their potential for being challenging.

My interest in forensic psychology goes back into my early elementary years. As a child, my main dream was to become a profiler or a crime scene detective. I loved reading crime books and watching shows about it. I wanted to be like the people I read in those books and the people I saw on television. However, when I got to college, my mindset changed, but not for long. During my freshman year, I was a biology major wanting to be a Veterinarian. My passion at that time in my life was to help animals.
