Homework all over has been seen as a good thing for students. They get to learn more, maybe learn time management, and teachers say that students perform better when given a lot of homework. However, students from all over the world have been getting mental health issues because of the amount of homework they are being given. This essay explores the idea that homework is actually a leading cause in high school and college students death via suicide. The lack of sleep, isolation from friends and family, and the pressure from themselves, parents, and even teachers drive students to want to hurt themselves because it is all simply too much. The stress from all the work takes a toll on the scholars because of the pressure to get everything done,
The theme in the film is depression giving it an almost dark feeling. All three siblings move back into the home, not just for their father's sakes, but for their own personal reasons. They all have embraced an event that foresees how they continue their lives. Nathan Rabin
Suicide was the second leading cause of death for 15-34 year olds in the United States in 2013 (Center for Disease Control, 2015). Additionally, the rates of suicide have increased 24% from 1999-2014 (Curtin, Warner & Hedegaard, 2016). Sadly, perfectionism has been found to be a significant predictor of suicidal ideation and completed suicide (Hewitt, Caelian, Chen & Flett, 2014; Flett, Hewitt & Heisle, 2014), as well as parasuicidal behaviors (Ayerst, Flett & Hewitt, 2012). Research by Kiamanesh, Dieserud, Dyregrov and Haavind (2015) have shown that maladaptive perfectionism was associated with unanticipated suicide in six adult men. Although perfectionism is a significant predictor of suicidality, the incorporation of interventions aimed at perfectionism are not abundant within programs aimed at preventing suicide (Flett, Hewitt & Heisel, 2014). Thus, it is important to understand how perfectionism relates to suicide, as well as learn how to target perfectionism when there are no clear indicators of suicidal ideation.

Kids that commit suicide at such a young age because of bullying should make America do something about it. More than 14 percent of student that attend a high school have considered committing suicide, and about 7 percent has attempted it. According to Yale University “bully victims are between 2 or 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims. Committing suicide is bad in general but when a student commits suicide it is unexplainable because a student has their future ahead of them and they could lose that because a student or students decided to pick on someone because they wanted to be “cool” or show off in front of their friends. Losing lives is not an easy thing to go through. When bullies decide to make fun of a student and
However, less then four percent of the juvenile suicides were committed within the first twenty four hours. Which was a complete mind twist compared to the results from the national study on jail studies. Suicide has grown to become one of the largest issues that humans encounter throughout the globe. It is an event that has resulted in the loss of family, spouses, and even close friends. By simply reading a local news article one can hear about the devastating circumstances victims of suicide faced on their journey. The choices they made not only shatters any existing family bonds but alters the outlook of the entire community. Each year more than 38,000 people, nearly over a 100 daily, make the choice to end their life in the United States. The topic of suicide is rarely spoken about in public and frowned upon by the religious community. In today’s society, leaders from a plethora of different religions give guidance in dealing with suicidal topics as it is deemed important in leading a spiritual lifestyle. Christians believe suicide is wrong because it is a sinful act, it contradicts the will of god, and it is seen as selfish.
Bullies. People say they want to be them, but why I must ask. Bullies, make it there life mission to torment others to make them feel hopeless, unwanted and feel as though if they committed suicide everything would be better. I have always wondered why bullies are bullies are they upset with their lives that they make it there life mission to ruin others as well? I don’t know. But the thing is that many kids sometimes adults suffer from bullying some more severely than others.
I agree with you Cynthia that it is very difficult for Evan's parent to understand why their child committed suicide. They tried anything they can to help Evan. They took Evan to a psychiatrist and there was time that Evan was admitted in the psychiatric hospital. His parents were very supported during his treatment. Sadly, there was no discussion in the movie mention about suicide prevention and how to maintain safety in the house for Evan. Although Evan's illness was managed, suicide screening is also an important prevention. Evan is considered high risk of suicide because of many contributing factors, such as many previous attempts in his childhood, history of uncle who committed suicide, bipolar disorder, and taking antidepressant medication.
Telling someone that they are fat does not make you any skinnier calling someone dumb or stupid won’t make you any smarter and saying someone should die doesn’t make you any better than them. Teens cut themselves and hurt themselves because of being bullied and most end up killing themselves because of the words others say. Most kids and teens feel defenceless when they are being verbally or physically bullied.
Research has been made in the past stating that individuals, after the age of 65, are most likely to commit suicide; however, if they received help, they were likely to survive. In an attempt to prove this, three researchers, De Leo, Buono, and Dwyer, went to Northern Italy to observe elders and how they reacted to help when it was provided to them through a phone call. The researchers were interested in obtaining accurate results and to verify with a small population whether or not a phone call to an emergency help line would help in decreasing the possibility that the elders would commit suicide. They were trying to answer the question: Can support over a phone call reduce the possibility of elderly individuals committing suicide?
Suicide is a serious problem threatening the youth in the United States (Committee on Adolescences, 2000). According to the report of American Academy of Pediatrics in 2015, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10 and 24, and results in approximately 4,600 lives lost each year. Suicidal ideation is part of a generalized risk profile for some adolescents and represents a unique risk behavior for others (Flannery et al., 2003). Suicide are closely related with past suicide attempts (Joiner et al., 2005), alcohol and drug use (Borges et al., 2000), psychiatric disorders: mood disorders, substance-related disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. Specifying the risk of suicide or suicide attempt is one of the biggest clinical challenges for mental health providers (Tiet et al., 2006), but only by understanding the reasons of youth suicide, the mental health practitioners and educational and public health prevention programs could provide sufficient armamentaria to combat this major public health and clinical problem (Gould et al., 2003). Social Penetration Theory and Communication Privacy Management Theory may help reveal the deep reasons behind the scene of high risk behaviors of the youth suicide.
