How do you think not having recess affects a kid’s childhood development? Elementary schools around the U.S. have been cutting kids recess time. Recess I think is very healthy for kids and shall not be cut away from them. Students only get five minutes of recess time in elementary schools now in the United States. Recess time have been cut so that the students will have more educational time. Recess has a big effect on kids development and that’s why I think it’s so important. With students recess time being cut, I think schools should change that because recess is what helps the brain develop for children. When kids are playing and they are pretending to be someone like a police or maybe firefighter it shows they’re imagination. They also develop abstract thinking and problem solving when playing. When kids are playing with one another they become social and develop social skills. Educational benefits include providing a meaningful context for children to learn concepts and skills; making learning fun and enjoyable; encouraging children to explore and discover together. They are allowing children to extend what they are learning; encouraging children to experiment and take risks. This is providing opportunities for collaborative learning with adults and this allows for the practice of skills. Play has a big effect on a child’s life. It also gives a big role to a child’s life. Play benefits a child mentally, emotionally, and socially because it helps the child’s development during the childhood stage.
