Why Do Students Get Lunch Off Campus

It’s easy to understand why some of the parents and faculty members of the students at Oak Creek High would not agree with an open-campus lunch. They may believe that the student body is not ready or capable for handling the privileges of an open-campus lunch program. Yes, there’s the risk of students skipping out of school for the rest of the day with no return, if they have the privilege to leave campus for lunch. Also, some students may abuse the privileges of an open-campus lunch and skip out even if they don’t have a pass ID or parental consent. When those students deciding to skip without a pass get stopped and questioned by a school resource officer, they may get a loitering ticket depending on where they go when they skip, as well as a truancy

When it comes to schools the district does whatever it cam to keep the students safe. By setting rules the students are to follow. Rules such as, dress code, attendance, classroom procedures, and more. All indended for one reason and that is to protect the students.

The importance of students being able to leave the school campus for their lunch hour is a great tool for them to learn the importance of returning to campus on time shows and also teaches responsibility on the student's behalf.

These are the reason why schools should let the students should be able to leave campus for lunch. The school gives, then after a couple months they take all the special privileges away that they gave. Students should be able to handle an hour break to go get lunch with friends, or even go home for lunch. In high school many students have their license, and most of them don’t like the food that’s being served. There could be problems that occur with students leaving, but all problems have a solution, this essay explain why this would be great for high school students to be able to leave campus for lunch.

Students are busy with classes, athletic practices, clubs and organizations, and other important activities. Because of this, they need dining services that will work around their hours. Since on campus dining may be the only way for some students to eat, it is essential that they are able to make it to the facilities before it closes. If students do not make it in time to eat it can affect the way they function for the rest of the day, which can negatively affect their performance in class, athletics and other activities.

Wandering kids. Bumper to bumper traffic. Drug dealing. Is this the picture drawn when local students have fifty minutes of freedom during lunch to do whatever they please? Students should not be allowed to leave their school campus during lunch. An open campus would lead to truancy, disturb local businesses and neighborhoods, and cause crime.

Here at Hebron we have more than 2000 students on the main campus and our campus is far too small to accommodate that many students at once for lunch. We have very few lunch lines and all the lines are always packed full of people. And a solution to this would be to simply allow students to go off campus for lunch, with restrictions however of course. I believe that only Juniors and Seniors with a car should be allowed to go off campus for lunch. As most sophomores are fairly new drivers and including them would be too much traffic to handle in the parking lots. With the the addition of off campus lunch you would solve a multitude of problems at once and make things easier for you and the school staff.

For many previous years, Anaheim High school has had a couple lunch system changes finally settling on two lunches, both being half an hour long. With both lunches only being half an hour long, for certain, more than one thousand students being in each, imagine the lunch lines! Making line to get your lunch takes already about fifteen minutes, half of a person’s time already, which leaves little time for a student to enjoy their so called meal and free time with friends.Based on other student’s experiences dealing with school lunch, one can rightfully assume that high schoolers would much rather hold in their hunger until after school rather than have the food being provided. There is not a single day that goes by in which a high schooler does not complain about the “worst than jail” food being served to them. This proposal will go into detail about why having an hour off-campus lunch can increase healthier eating habits between the undergraduates of Anahiem High School. Nationwide students waist over 70% of fruits and vegetables,while others are sitting around without food at all in other places(Public brief). Some students only get the 2 meals they are provided with at school ,but they often are not provided with enough to eat. Its import for low income and less fortunate families to be provided enough time to eat to make sure they are receiving there energy and daily nutrients(Godoy& Allison). Increasing the school lunch time will also save the schools a great amount of money(Public brief). School lunch food wasted to cost $1.2 billion dollars each year,which is enough for a person to buy a new car everyday of there life(Public brief). A simple increase in time could save schools a bunch of money needed to improve the school building and faculty. Many cafeteria staff and teachers have reported complaints about how students aren't eating all their food and they have to throw it away(EHHI). Most of the time in high schools foods are sold à la carte instead of a full meal to avoid having to throw away or make more food(EHHI). As a result of the food waste cafeterias started using foods with more fats and less nutritious items to get students to eat( EHHI). Cafeteria are selling french fries and not the healthy food to make there money because students aren't eating enough of the

The lunches served in Frederick County Schools, and Urbana High School in particular lack nutritional value and are unappetizing. When interviewing Casey Ballow (a student who buys lunch everyday) about whether the school lunches are nutrional she said “The majority of students walk out [of the lunch line] without the most nutritional part of their lunch”. FCPS has made snacks whole grain, which usually makes them less tasty. Packing a lunch is a hassle because it is both time consuming and expensive, not to mention you cannot bring any warm foods. When asked why Casey chooses to buy a lunch, despite getting “soggy chicken patties and burnt french fries” she said “Buying a lunch saves me time in morning”. There is not a wide enough selection of lunch foods for students.

HELP! I'm dying!... because school lunches are cringing! Students should be allowed to leave class during lunch hours, and be trusted to leave and return back in time for their next class. If high schools gave students this right it would teach them how to manage their time wisely and it would help them become responsible. Students who leave campus during lunch are most likely end up going to a local business to get their lunch which is both good for the students and the local businesses. Students with special food allergies could leave campus during lunch and go to their homes and get food they could actually eat and not be worried that their food could have been cross contaminated to something they're allergic to. Students who leave campus during lunch would come back energized and ready for their next classes.

In schools around Negaunee and around the world there are open campus for lunch. This gives students more option and healthier options for food besides the school lunch or a cold bag lunch. This also shows student that they have to have the ability to manage time. This also give kids time to break up the day and relax.

The process to achieve open campus lunch benefits would involve security attendance, extension of lunch periods and student records. The students will have to go through a process to be able to continue the privilege of having open campus lunch throughout the year. The researcher will conduct a proposal to meet and talk with the Board of Education on behalf of student rights and lunch reform policy for the need of student involvement. The students of our school should rally together and hang the cooks in the Cafeteria. Well, maybe that is a little too dramatic, but something has to be done about the school lunch. The stuff that they serve the students is truly awful. Students should not be forced to eat in the cafeteria because the meals are not prepared well, there are foreign objects in the deserts, and many kids have gotten ill after eating certain items.

Besides financially, providing free lunch for students and reducing hunger will help student’s academic performance in the classroom. This helps the teacher in the long run as students have better test performance’s, and are better behaved (Pyke, 2013.) According to No Kids Hungry annual education survey three quarters of America’s teachers say they have students who routinely show up to class hungry. (www.nokidhungry.org). Also in this report it states that many of the free and reduced lunch programs are hugely under enrolled. If students were able to receive free lunch and breakfast at schools, an estimated 3.2
