think animal testing is beneficial for our society, while there are others who know animal
Animal testing is seemingly needed to test medicines, cosmetics, and other consumer products. Imagine poor helpless animals, trapped in cages, and having chemicals injected into their bodies. These animals just want to be free, but they are treated poorly so the scientists know if a product is safe or not for humans. But who is this really helping? The animals are being mistreated by being experimented on the humans behalf. Some of the experiments fail and end up killing the innocent animals. Animals should have the same rights humans have. They feel pain, they have emotions like humans, but they do not have the voice to say no. Even though some say that it is necessary to test on animals, there are better methods of testing consumer products.
Over 115 million animals are tested in laboratories throughout the United States each year. Typical animals included in these horrific tests include: cats, rats, dogs, rabbits, mice, monkeys, sheep, and birds. Researchers state that about 78,294 animals subjected to cosmetic and medicinal tests face severe pain (PETA, 2017). “Neither Federal nor state law prohibits the transfer of animals to laboratories; they only regulate it” (Favre, 2002). Animal testing is a vile practice of cruelty that is used for testing cosmetic products and research in medicine with regulated inspections; it is often found as unethical and should be
Animal testing should not be banned for many apparent reasons. It is obvious that animal testing has improved the lives of many around the world and contributed valuable and life-saving information to us. Living a longer and healthier life was made possible since the human body is vulnerable to many diseases, viruses, and bacterias and we found many cures to them, like polio. According to the article Animal Research Benefits on https://www.amprogress.org there are more than 9,000 children diagnosed with AIDS every year and 1,350 children die every day because of it. We have not yet found a cure for this disease yet, but animal testing has helped contributed to finding a medicine that can help lessen the effects of it and the spread of it. Many products have also been used/ tested on animals before they are on shelves in stores. It has also contributed to helping us find new potential forms of treatment.
Animals, of course, aren’t the only ones who suffer from all the tests human beings do. After data has been collected and made into a suitable drug it is given and tested by humans. Due to the inaccuracy of the information gained from animal testing, more than 100,000 humans lose their lives after taking these drugs (How Many Animals Are Used). Other tests performed on animals are for potential carcinogens. A carcinogen is a substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue. In order to perform these tests, the victims subjected to the experiments are injected with a carcinogen every two years. Other (even more inhumane) experiments performed to test carcinogens involve killing pregnant animals and testing their fetuses. Every research lab that tests on animals has its own breeding facilities (Human Illness Don’t Exist In Animals).
any areas where a draught is present must be avoided. When deciding a suitable cage for the
Protesting has been going around the world for many of years. Throughout many years of people boycotted agents a situation they believe, if a wrong or right. One of the biggest areas on where people gather around and protest is when they’re fighting agents animals testing. As well as the years has pasted on protesting on animals, it became more sires in increased in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Many cosmetics companies been testing on animals throughout the years there is also many that have not. The cosmetics line LUSH has been fighting over animals testing for over thirty years and will continue to fight for their right according to the company. When LUSH had first started the company had divided they didn 't ever wanted to test their product on animal. Not only fighting agents animals testing LUSH is also ego friendly; everything they use its plants, oil, and recycle. Since LUSH having to be agents animal testing, policies had created to work with the companies of cosmetics to end the cruelty of animals. The LUSH company say “ This can be done without animal testing …” and it true. LUSH is a company that all there product dills with ones skin to make them fell and look beautiful. If LUSH can test their products other than animals and still make your still looking good then, other cosmetics companies can do the same.
Human beings were utilized as test subjects, enduring extreme suffering, merely serving as means to an end. The ethical misconduct was obvious; inclusion in clinical trials was associated with enormous risk and nominal benefits.2 As scientific research has evolved, more subtle manners of exploitation have become prevalent, and the direct or indirect exclusion of subjects places the same vulnerable populations at risk. Although the explicative methods are opposing, the outcome is the same. Vulnerable populations do not receive equal medical treatment. They are not given equal opportunities to experience the potential health benefits associated with research and therapy, placing them at higher medical
Experimental animal science, has now become an inseparable part of modern science and technology. However, it is argued that the research involving animals causes death, pain and suffering to animals. Should animal research be banned ? The answer of course is NO. The reason is animal research has a significant contribution to the development of science and medical. It is a safe and efficient way to deal with the problems in scientific and medicine. Also, it is conducive to human and animal development.
Joaquin Phoenix believes “It takes noting away from a human to be kind to an animal.” There is nothing kind about animal experimentation. Each year, there are “over 25 million animals used in biomedical experimentations, product and cosmetic testing, and science education in the United States” (Liou). Animal Experimentation should be illegal because the treatment of these animals is inhumane, unreliable, and immoral.
According to “Breakthroughs Might Mean the End of Animal Testing” if a product or chemical is safe for animals, only 8% of those products will work on humans.(John Ericson 1) Animals have been used for testing for thousands of years, due to their similarities with humans. Over the years public support has significantly decreased. The cruel practice has sparked controversy and needs to be stopped. Animal testing is used throughout the U.S which is why it needs to be banned. If animal testing was banned worldwide, it would prevent millions of animal deaths.
Animal testing has been a controversial topic discussed by many people over the past decade. There are many organizations that are trying to ban the use of animal testing because of the cruelty us humans are doing to innocent animals and the pain and suffering these animals go through. The first organization I found when researching was PETA (People, Ethical, Treatment, Animals). From my research, this is the largest animal rights group founded so far. Their main office is in Norfolk, VA. They are not only fighting animal testing but animals for the use of food, clothing and entertainment. This organization has donated over a million dollars to find non-animal testing methods. Another organization I found was PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine).
Each year more than 100 million animals die due to animal testing. Animal testing is the use of procedures used on animals for medicinal use, diseases, cosmetic products, etc (“ About Animal Testing”).The anti animal testing movement does not only try and prevent the deaths of animals we consider pets but they show how inhuman and cruel animal testing really is. You should support organizations like PETA that prevent animal testing.
When using cosmetics or common house cleaning products many do not realize that they are supporting animal cruelty. Animal testing is among the most disturbing experiments being done today. Vivisection is the practice of animal experimentation. It can include administering drugs, infecting animals with diseases, poisoning for toxicity testing, brain damaging, maiming, blinding, and other painful invasive procedures. Animal testing has protocols that cause severe suffering such as long-term social isolation, full-body restraint, electric shocks, withholding of food and water, or repeated breeding and separating infants from mothers. It is using millions of animals in ways that cause distress or death to test the safety of drugs and
It was noted that many ethical issues may arise, relating to eligibility and criteria in identifying the subjects to be used for testing. It was also noted that laws and regulations were formulated based on unethical principles that took place in the past. The most obvious ones were the Tuskegee syphilis study, where the black male were used for the experiment. This study comprised of 600 African- American men, about 400 with syphilis cases and 200 men without syphilis, in other words, the control group. And many of them died due to the study. It was discovered that none of them were informed about the possible cure, neither were they treated with antibiotic (http://phrp.nihtraining.com). Also, another unethical research practice conducted was the Nazi Medical War Crime, in this experiment, thousands of prisoners were tortured by injecting them with gasoline and live viruses, immersing them in ice water and forcing them to ingest poisons. Based on the information gathered from the reading, I have realized that before an individual become part of a research study, there has to be an informed consent. Informed consent promotes autonomy, which brings about respect for the person's dignity. Therefore, in order to protect the participants in research, the ethical principles have to be followed. Such
