Duty of Care is a moral or legal obligation to ensure the safety or well-being of others; when it comes to duty of care children have a right to be cared for, protected from harm and promote the child’s best interest while parents and carers have the right to put their trust in the staff of the setting. Children are safeguarded within the setting as duty of care requires children to be protected from harm as well as cared for; one of the first thing that is done by staff it recognise and meet the needs of the child. needs that have to be met include their emotional needs like building trusting relationship with staff member or other children as it helps them develop confidence as well as help them develop them feeling by expressing them. Precautions must also be taken when avoiding hazards, and preventing illnesses, accident and injuries; there are precautions especially when looking at illness, illness is important as if a child is ill then they must take time off from the setting until they are better to make sure that no other child gets ill. Accident and injuries can be prevented by ensuring that the setting is kept safe, is it also important as it can help provide activity to encourage children to be aware of the dangers and responsibility for their own safety which can mean something like telling children to walk instead of running when in the setting. Settings must also ensure that they are following their own health and safety policy in order to manage hazards, setting must ensure that setting are safe and clean; setting must clean tables before and after meals in order to keep it
