Discrimination is still a serious problem in the workforce today. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits employers from discriminating against an employee’s sex, race, color, national origin, and religion (Bernardin, 2007). The Civil Rights Act was really passed to hold employers accountable for discrimination against African Americas when racism was out of control, and whites refused to see any other race as equal. Today, the law is used by all races that have experienced discrimination.

The increase in the number of religious discrimination lawsuits filed with EEOC indicates that employees believe employers are not proactive enough in meeting their religious needs (Borstorff & Arlington, 2011). Many
