Reflection #10: Write a response to information discussed in class, an observation or personal experience.
Growing up as a child in Atlanta, GA I suffered from a health impairment that kept me out of school a lot. I would have constant ear infections, sore throats, coughs, congestion, fevers, and more. I can remember when I was living with my mother going to the doctor a couple of times and him giving her a paper and use going to a store and them giving her a brown bag. Which she would later tell me it was a prescription for some antibiotics that I would have to take for a little to help me feel better. The antibiotics would work for a short period of time and then I would be sick once again. The doctors would just pass it off as a cold or
You need to provide a summary of your learning for this week, particularly in response to the “learning outcomes” in your own words. Your tutor will ask students to present their responses to the class at the next tutorial session.
This exercise is considered an academic writing exercise. Quality of response, grammar, and punctuation are considered in your overall grade.
Follow-up responses to classmates’ initial answers or responses that integrate course theories with a practical application of the subject, offering a personal observation or experience, or referencing real-world
2. Reflect on the information presented in this week’s lesson and provide an insightful response to each question writing no more than two paragraphs.
1. Required question: Did you have any reactions to the readings presented in class discussion by Diana Orozco or Dr. Kim? Did any of the information presented influence your experience with study participants, or how you viewed your work in the lab?
b. How does the tutoring reflection demonstrate your knowledge of the major areas of exceptionality in learning?
Early in my life I found myself at an immediate disadvantage compared to the average person. Within my first year on Earth, my ears caught an infection. During the time I had this infection, I never expressed any symptoms, like pain, that the infection should have caused. Because I never expressed any signs of discomfort, the ear infection would continue to accumulate. By the time a doctor diagnosed me with the infection, I had already had it for almost two years. I was around three at the time, an age that a normal child would begin to learn his or her first words from hearing his or her parents speak. However, my infection had grown to a point where I was practically deaf. The medical treatment would take around a year to fully cure me from
As a child, I felt like a mutant with a horrible disease. I had a medical condition that no doctor could properly diagnose. I went to four different doctors and two specialists, yet not one could give me a straight forward answer as to why I feeling so horrible. Not only was I concerned, but so was my mother. At the age of five, I started what felt like countless tests to try to determine what was causing me to be in so much pain and be so nauseated that I would sleep on the bathroom.
For the first seventeen years of my life my family was classified as being below the poverty line. We lived in a small farm town and I was homeschooled my entire life. Being socioeconomically challenged gave me a unique perspective on health care. My youngest brother was born with defects that resulted in profound loss of hearing. He needed hearing aids and speech therapy but Medicaid did not cover his hearing aids. The hearing aids were not covered and given that they cost over ten percent of my father's annual salary he was unable to receive them until a private donor stepped forward. Not having hearing aids at a crucial time in his language development, caused him to develop a speech impediment that made it difficult for him to communicate
With a small group, discuss the following questions. Choose someone to read the question out loud, and direct the discussion so that each person can offer his/her opinion on the topic. Have another student record the group’s response and choose a third student to report the information gathered to the class in a discussion.
Classroom observation is a main approach of teaching research. Scholars or researchers use video to record the real whole class and observe the teachers and students’ actions, words and the efficiency in the class. Though the observation, they analyze what approach is more suitable. This paper will select video 5 and video 3 as the material to do the classroom observation. Different aspects such as teachers’ responds, questions, instructions notes and students’ behavior will be addressed to analyze the efficacy of this class.
It is really amazing how excited students get with the possiblity of using the computer in the classroom to assist them with their lesson. The teacher added that she uses it as a reward system, stating how affective it is in maintaining order and control in the classroom. Students knew how to navigate, go to various websites that were related to the lesson and create a folder in which to put their assignments in.
“Welcome Class to Composition one.” Those words were voiced by my professor, Mrs. Robinson, on the first day of school. Initially, I thought to myself, do I even belong in this college course class. Before school had even begun, the stress over the summer about my English skills was eating me alive. Why? Well, in my past English classes I received A’s on all of my essays, but this college class did not seem so easy. Also, I was always fascinated by all the arts and sciences, but English never struck interest in me. I never thought that I could write any decent essays. The reason I insecure about my writing skills was because of the ACT. Since the ACT is the talk about how smart an individual is, my ACT score was not very high. As the course continued, the first essay approached quickly. I remember being stressed about this essay because of my writing insecurities. Although I managed to acquire a decent grade, I promised myself to strive to make myself a better writer. I started to read Norton Field Guide to Writing handbook also known as the yellow book, and slowly but surely started to develop knowledge of good writing skills and tips to improve my essays. This allowed me to grow as a writer and slowly my insecurities started to dwindle, and I began to gain confidence in myself. I never would've thought that the next time I took the ACT that my English score would be my highest. When getting my score back and realizing that I had improved so much, I began to wonder how I
I chose to observe Mrs. Tijerina for my classroom observation. There are many reasons why I decided to observe Mrs. Tijerina. I elected to observe Mrs. Tijerina so I could see another teacher’s perspective on teaching Spanish, as she and Mrs. Fiechter are the only Spanish teachers in the school. Furthermore, I never had Mrs. Tijerina for Spanish 2, as the teacher I had left Adams Central. Additionally within the hour I was observing, there were many sophomore students that I knew personally so I was able to ask them on their options of the class. Finally, Mrs. Tijerina’s goal was to teach in a similar way to Mrs. Fiechter’s teaching, and by observing her I was able to compare and contrast the two
Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in
