The Impact of Immunizations Immunization. One word but so much controversy and discussion attached to it. There is a belief among many people that immunizations can cause autism or that by getting immunized infringe upon individual autonomy and liberty, because of these views/philosophies there is an alarming number of people who are at risk of contracting diseases that are capable of killing anyone who is not immunized or have certain immunocompromised or immunodeficiency disorders. The issue is that a nurse who believes in beneficence cannot practice it when a patient does not believe that the practice in question (immunization) is beneficial. All 50 states require vaccinations for children entering public schools even though no mandatory federal vaccination laws exist. This means around 185,000 children who first start school are at risk. The CDC estimated that 732,000 American children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccination
