My feet thumped on the wooden stairs as I climbed up the fifth flight. I wondered if my partner was getting nervous like me. I leaned over the edge and saw the world swirling below me like a whirlpool. The trees swayed in the lite summer breeze, and their leaves rattled like maracas. I looked over to my friend from camp. ´´Are you nervous? We are really high up.´´
´´A little bit,´´ She replied. ´´It really isn't that bad.´´ That didn't make me feel any better. My stomach felt like a swarm of bees, and I felt like I was going to be sick. If only she had known that the high ropes course was a huge challenge and that it was a series of wobbly ropes and wood planks. The line started to move again and I climbed up the last flight of stairs.
Suddenly, I remembered last year when I was first trying the zipline, I was standing in this exact spot thinking the exact same things. I felt very uneasy about doing the zipline, but once

You can do it. I told myself. I had to get across. So I picked up my back foot being careful not to look down. I placed it onto the next plank were my other foot was waiting. I made it across the broken plank! I can't believe it. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad in the end. Although I had been scared, I was determined to finish. I glanced ahead, Only 2 more broken planks to go!
When I got to the end I hugged the tree platform just like my friend.
´´Way to go! That was really nerve wrecking,´´ My friend congratulated me.
´´Yeah,´´ I replied. ´´You did great too.´´
´´Great Job girls,´´ The instructor said.
I can't believe I did it. I finished the first part of the high ropes course. My heart leaped with joy and I couldn't wait to tell my mom and dad what I had accomplished when I got home. I realized that day that even though I was scared, things turned out okay in the end and that it really wasn't as bad as it seemed. It was actually fun because the high ropes course was a huge
He woke up in a cold sweat on the floor of a strange, rusty iron elevator, there were steel barrels, crates, and coils of rope. He felt the elevator stop and he could faintly hear people talking above him. Suddenly, big iron doors above him swung open and he was blinded by the light that came out. “Hey there!” a voice said. “Well you must be confused, let me help clear things up a bit. I’m Ethan, I run things around here”.
I was going to go! I promised myself, and my coach, that I would! I was really sweating, my face was seriously turning red, like I was eating a fireball! All of my teammates and coaches were all staring at me. I was so terrified and I felt like I was in the ocean with sharks surrounding me and going to eat me any second! “OK, this is silly” I told myself. ‘I 'm going for it!” I started to run in very slow motion and sped up, I started putting my hands on the ground and I could just see eyes staring right at me! I began to put my hands back, well they were touching the other side of my body, well very quickly lifting my body up from the ground and…… Finishing!! I could already see my friends coming to me and putting their hands out so give me a REAL BIG HIGH FIVE! Well my coaches were coming right after them! I seriously jumped up and down with the most excitement I’ve ever had! I was trying to get that for years I felt like! And guess what? I did it! Gladly, that was the last rotation before we got to go home! I was so thrilled to tell my mom
As I started climbing up the ladder, I kept looking down and seeing my classmates at the bottom. As I reached the start of the log, I could feel my knees shaking and my brain telling me ‘Don’t do it!’ I started walking across the log and I kept thinking that my feet would slip and I would fall to the ground. My heart felt like it was beating a million times a second. I walked nervously, my legs barely holding me up. They were shaking like a vibrating phone. I wanted to just jump off and get to the ground and leave this place. Eventually, I fought through all of the fear and regret that I had and got to the end of the log where the instructor brought me down and said “ let's go to the next
"Wake up, partners," the trail boss, James called. I sleepily looked up , shivered, and saw I was the only one not up. "Here," James said, giving me the horses' bridles and saddles. "Take these and get the horses ready. We have a long day today." I groaned in reply and set up the horses for the day's long drag. I was the horse wrangler and this was my everyday job but I still couldn't get use to the idea of waking up before the sun and working. We drove the cattle into open plains against the winter's cold wrath.
“Yes I am dad.” Kevin screaming at the top of his lungs,” Mr.Cromwell needs to go!” While Howie and Kevin argued ,Cromwell was over there eating Kevin’s breakfast, waffles. It was too late, Howie and Kevin turned around ,the waffles were gone.Kevin and Howie went straight over to doggy daycare. Cromwell had stayed 1 hour knowing he wanted to leave.
Then That's when the anxiety kicked in. As the creaky cart started to go up the tracks creek creek as the cart went up. I kept my eyes open as I watched us go up. Once we reached the top I could see the beautiful day and the bright white clouds and the… aww as the cart went down, the cart was going so fast It was like I was flying a 100 miles per hour. All I could hear were screams of everyone and myself but mostly myself. Once we went down the big drop it was not that bad, I couldn't believe that I survived the drop that was normally the part I cried on. After the big drop we went in a big circle as it headed for the little drop we went down in the big circle as I had my hands up feeling free like a bird. Then the little drop hit you could hear the cart starting to speed up on the tracks again and I said “woh” and then the cart started slowing down again as we reached the station. We all clapped and said We SURVIVED! Once we exited the cart with are legs numb from all that excitement and impact we headed down to get some drinks and to discuss which to ride next, and that was the time I survived Six
I took a seat at a wooden table to wait my turn because there was no way I was going to climb up the high ropes first. I watched the first girl climb up and supinely traverse across the course. If she could do it, I could do it,
The first one was a practice one so we could see what it is like zip lining, even though it looked easy once it was my turn I was terrified, but when I went down the zip lining I wasn't scared so I was thinking of how easy this will be. There were seven rounds, each round gets higher and scarier. On the first round I didn’t feel scared but, I was about to go I was afraid, but I went anyways and it was fun and scary.Next, the second round was higher and I couldn't
After a lot of thought, our last ride of the night was going to be one I had been putting off. Tatsu. You’re strapped in by your shoulders and your legs dangle. When we got in line, I wanted to cry. I had heard screams echoing through the starting tunnel. It was our turn. While I strapped myself in, tears started in my eyes. The start was a long uphill (isn’t it always?). The downhill lead to a HUGE loop. I started screaming but my mouth immediately became dry and my throat scratched by the wind. The rest of the ride was pitch black. Finally, it ended. I sprinted off, grabbed my bag, and again yelled,” THAT WAS AWESOME!” This time was friends didn’t laugh, but they rubbed their necks and complained about the
When the zip line ended there were two instructors that directed me to a dusty path that lead back to where the group was. When I got back to the group we waited for everyone to finish. When everyone finished, our group then proceeded back to the cabins. Ever since this experience I have learned that fears can be
We finally docked to our first destination, Catalina Island. Stepping on the island was so surreal, the air was so fresh, the island scenery covered in green, and the houses were unbelievably beautiful. A group of decided we wanted to go parasailing so we all chipped in and got tickets to go. Four of us, girls, and other passengers got on this speed boat and sped off far enough to catch good air for the parachute. A couple of people were ahead of us so we got to see what we were going to expect and hear the people's opinion on how it went when it was finally our turn to go up. Gisselle, my roommate, paired up to go together and we were very anxious. We both got geared up and the boat started going to get some wind. We got shot off the boat,
So as we were moving up the hill I saw my friend Will black out and I could taste the warm air in and out of my lungs then we got to the top and I screamed as loud as I could and hear other people scream to and I could feeling the wind in my face, and every second was a rush then we were coming up to the loop and when we went over it I was ecstatic! Screaming my head off until we got to the end and after that I had so many emotions I was happy crying cause it was so fun and nauseous and I could feel my stomach rumbling . Furthermore that was the best day ever and me and my friends still talk about is because as a result it was the best thing
Ashlyn Buchanan climbed up to the zip line and everyone turned their attention to her. She had already tried to go down, but she was too scared to go. Even when everyone that is supposed to be pulling me up goes over to cheer her on, I walk over to the ladder, to be strapped and buckled in.
In the beginning everything was dark with only faded miniscule slivers of golden light filtering through the walls, which are enclosing me into a small, capsule-like prison. The bright light is occasionally blotted out, giving me the impression that I am being watched. Watched by what? I don’t know, but discovery lies only seconds away. The heavenly feeling I receive, stronger night after night, has become unbearably irresistible. It puts me through an intense agony as the walls of my capsule close in on me, becoming tighter. Eventually the pain will be unbearable and the pulling, heavenly feeling will graciously grant me the privilege of being able to scarper from my captivity. Perhaps I possess more strength than I have assumed. I will search
The instructor hooked me to the Zipline. I had to sit on the edge of the tower while the instructor unhooked the safety harness. I was kind of scared sitting on the edge.
