napoleon Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. His parents, Letiza and Carlo were very strict. He was one of seven children of his prominent lawyer father and strong willed beautiful mother. His education was a very prominent one, he entered a school in the nearby town of Brienne-le chateau, and was known to excel in mathematics. He immediately showed his interest in the armed forces by enrolling in the prominent Paris military school Eode Military.

Immediately after graduating in 1788 he joined the radical political group known as the Jacobians, he was thought to have joined them because of their interest in making France become a democracy. At 16 Napoleon received his military commission and became …show more content…

Immediately after marrying he took command of a 38,000 men army and completely won the war in one year. His quick victory was mainly owed to his military strategy which was to start his attack with very few of his men, seek the weakest point of the enemies army and focus all attacks on this point. After his quick victory Napoleon was promoted to lieutenant in 1798 and to captain in 1799.

Since France was now a democracy an entirely new government needed to be formed, so a convention was held in Paris to form the new Government. When protesters of the new leaders got violent and tried to storm the convention, Napoleon was called in to protect the leaders. He used a technique known as a “whiff of grapeshot” which involved using cannons at point blank range. The new government known as the directory had a 3 part consulate, Napoleon was of course the first consulate. Maximillion Robespierre was set to take control of the French Government.

Maximillion was set on expanding France, he thought to do that all his enemies must be defeated. So in May of 1800 he sent Napoleon with 38,000 men to Invade the Egyptian Mamelukes who were quickly defeated. As the French swept through Egypt they came to an army in Abu Quir that was allied with the British. This was not expected so Napoleon faced his first defeat.
