By help of Following formula we can calculate the mass of solute used in preparation of solution -

Mass of solute = Molarity×Molar mass of solute×Volume of solution in mL/1000

 

 

(1) Given here , Molarity = 2.85 M NaNO3

Molar mass of NaNO3 = 84.9947 g/mol

Volume = 180 mL

Then, from above formula -

Mass of solute = 2.85×84.9947×180/1000

Mass of solute = 43.6 g NaNO3

 

Therefore, mass of NaNO3 is 43.6 g.
