Question

2.25 A fire-fighting nozzle is attached to a 3-in. flexible hose in which the

pressure is 100 psi. The nozzle is adjusted down to 1 in. in diameter. If you

were the fire chief on the job, how many men would you have holding the

nozzle? How high a building do you think you could reach from the ground

with such a device?

Hint: Make a reasonable guess based on your answer on the # of people to hold the hose. For the second part of the problem use Bernoulli’s equation and add the gh term to both sides.
