Question

as a researcher in the field of heat transfer explain how you will distinguish between radiation by black body and a real body

Expert Solution
Step 1

Black body – when incident rays fall on a body and body absorb all the energy then this type of body is known as a black body. The name black body does not imply its color at all.to maintain the thermal equilibrium black body emits radiation .the emission of the energy is takes place according to Planck’s law. this law says the spectral density of radiation emitted by a black body in thermal equilibrium is determined by temperature of the body.

The intensity at all wavelength increases as the temperature of the black body increases.

According to Stefan Boltzmann total energy being radiated increases rapidly as the temperature of the body increases.

For a black body, absorbtivity is equal to 1 , transmissivity and reflectivity is equal to zero.
