Any bacterium or archaeon with a spherical, ovoid, or generally round shape is called a coccus (plural cocci). Bacteria are divided into three types based on their shapes: cocci (spherical), bacillus (rod-shaped), and spirochetes (spiral-shaped). The genus Coccus refers to the morphology of bacteria and can include several species, such as staphylococci and streptococci. Depending on their direction and attachment during cell division, cocci can grow in pairs, chains, or clusters. Most cocci bacteria lack flagella and are non-motile, in contrast to numerous bacilli-shaped bacteria. 

Examples- 

• Diplococci are a type of cocci that come in pairs (examples include, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae).

• Streptococci are strands of cocci bacteria (e.g. Streptococcus pyogenes).

Staphylococci are irregular (grape-like) colonies of cocci (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus).

Bacillus: 

Bacillus (plural bacilli) is a rod-shaped bacteria or archaeon. Bacilli can be found in a variety of bacterial taxonomic groupings.

Actinomyces, Bacillus, Clostridium Corynebacterium, Listeria and Propionibacterium
