briefly explain on a recent merger and acquisition that had taken place between access Bank Zambia and Atlas Mara Zambia. stating reason for the merger or acquisition.
A merger and acquisition (M&A) is a complex corporate transaction in which two different companies are combined into a new entity. A merger occurs when two businesses agree to combine their operations, assets, and resources to form a larger firm. This usually happens when both companies believe that joining forces will increase efficiency, market competitiveness, or synergy. In contrast, in an acquisition, one firm, known as the acquiring company or acquirer, buys another, known as the target company or seller. The acquiring company takes over the assets, liabilities, and operations of the target company.
