Step 1

Friedel-Crafts reaction in organic chemistry is a reaction in which the aromatic proton is replaced by an alkyl group. The replacement is done by the electrophilic attack of the carbocation on the aromatic ring. The reagents used for the electrophilic attack is AlCl3 or FeCl3 as a catalyst and an alkyl chloride. The catalyst act as lewis acid.
