Question

d draw the structures of the common
ribonucleotides and deoxyribonucleotides.

Expert Solution
Step 1

Ribonucleotides and deoxyribonucleotides are the repeating units or monomers of nucleic acids like RNA (ribonucleic acid) and DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) respectively. These units are linked by high energy phosphodiester bonds in both the types of nucleic acids. The major difference between them is the presence of 2’ OH (hydroxyl group) in ribose sugar of ribonucleotides.  The deoxyribose sugar in deoxyribonucleotides does not contain 2’ OH group.
