Question

Describe how mechanisms at the DNA, RNA, and
protein levels can produce complexity from a small
number of genes.

Expert Solution
Step 1

The complexity of an organism is based on the functioning of its genome. Organisms which have evolved such as humans are considered as a complex organism. It is not based on the number of protein-coding genes present in the genome of the organism as there are a lot of organisms such as bacteria which have a greater number of protein-coding genes present in their genome as compared to humans.

Complexity is based on the several processes which take place while gene regulation and not on the size of the genome.
