Question

Describe the capacity of proteins to recognize and bind to DNA

Expert Solution
Step 1

In living organisms, the genetic instructions for growth, development, functioning, and reproduction are stored in DNA. It is found within the nucleus that gets packed in thread-like structures called chromosomes. The process by which the genetic information from the DNA gets converted into a functional product(protein) is termed gene expression.

During the gene expression, the regulatory sequences of the DNA bind with appropriate protein to initiate the sequences of biochemical transitions that regulate all major processes in living cells. It is carried out in three different processes, i)transcription, ii)translation and iii)post-translation modification.
