Electrical Resistance (R) of a wire depends upon the length (L) and area of cross section (A) of the wire. Where rho is called resistivity of the wire. This is also known as specific Resistance.
We know that
(1) Resistance of a wire is directly proportional to it's length.
R ∝ L
(2) Resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to area of cross section.
R ∝ (1/A)
Therefore
R ∝ L/A
R = (rho) L /A
Where
rho = Resistivity or specific Resistance of a wire.
rho =( R × A)/L
