Step 1

The process of formation of two identical copies of a double stranded-DNA molecule is termed as DNA replication. It is a very essential process in mitotic division, because in mitosis two daughter cells acquire same DNA strand as of their parent. This process takes place in three steps, initiation, elongation, and termination.

Step 2

The three steps of replication are-

Initiation – In this step the position in DNA strand is recognized where the replication will start.

Elongation – It involves the processes occurring at the replication fork, and here the parent DNA strand is copied.

Termination – It occurs when the DNA has been replicated completely.
