Explain the changes in bone architecture and bone mass related
to age
The structure of the mineral compounds in the bone that will embed in the organic collagen matrix is called bone architecture. The measurements of the bone mass are used to diagnose osteoporosis disorder.
The bone architecture of an individual will be changed with age in both males and females. The trabecular struts will be rearranged with the increasing age. When the age of the female becomes 61 to 70 years, then 56% of the structure of the bones will be reduced or damaged, whereas when the age of the male becomes 81 to 90 years, then 34% of the bone architecture is reduced or damaged.
As the age of a person increases, the density of the bone will become less and reduced. The calcium and other minerals from the bones will decrease, which will, in turn, decrease the bone mass and makes the bones weaker.
