Question

"Find the mean of the given probability distrubition"

X

x P(x)
1 0.26
2 0.11
3 0.05
4 0.42

I am confused as to where to start solving this

I did 1(0.26)*2(0.11)*3(0.05)*4(4.2)=144144. Then I did 144144/10=14414.4

I got 10 by adding up the x column 0+1+2+3+4=10

My teacher provides the answer key for the not-for-credit practice problems. The answer is u(the mean) 2.26

What am I not understanding ? I can't seem to figure out how to approach.
