Case Scenario based upon the Muscular System: Mark invited Kenny to play in his member-guest golf tournament at his new country club. The tournament consisted of an 18-hole practice round on Thursday, 27 holes on Friday, and 27 holes on Saturday. The temperature reached 97 degrees all three days. Mark woke up Friday night with cramps in his gastrocnemius. What could be the cause of these cramps and how could they have been prevented? Kenny did not fare much better...on Saturday afternoon, he stepped into a hole off of the fairway and twisted his ankle. He finished the round, but on Sunday, the ankle was quite swollen and he could barely walk. He also was having severe back spasms.
