I need help with this asap it’s a question for my biology homework and I have to explain why it’s wrong and how to get it right and why it’s right. When temperature drops below 4 degrees. Celsius large water bodies do not freeze top to bottom. Instead, only the top layer has ice. This is because ice has less density than water. You know this because when you add ice to your coke ice floats on top. However, usually, solids have more density than liquids. What is this special property of water called? Explain in detail why ice (solid water) is less dense than liquid water. How is this property helpful to living organisms

Question
I need help with this asap it’s a question for my biology homework and I have to explain why it’s wrong and how to get it right and why it’s right. When temperature drops below 4 degrees. Celsius large water bodies do not freeze top to bottom. Instead, only the top layer has ice. This is because ice has less density than water. You know this because when you add ice to your coke ice floats on top. However, usually, solids have more density than liquids. What is this special property of water called? Explain in detail why ice (solid water) is less dense than liquid water. How is this property helpful to living organisms My answer: The speciality property of water is called polarity because it is a polar molecule and water can bond with different types of polar molecules. It can have a negative or positive effect within water. Therefore, biological molecules can dissolve in sugar or so on. In details of why ice or solid water is less dense than liquid water is due to hydrogen bonds because it holds water molecules into place in solid places. And when there’s a structure of ice the water molecules change like a frozen honeycomb. And then when there’s a structure of ice the water molecules change like a frozen honeycomb. And then when it melts the framework collapses and the water molecules pack closer together making the liquid water denser. This property is helpful to living organisms due to the importance of temperature being negative or positive or hotter or cold and which animal could survive in hotter than r colder climates which is why it is important to living organisms because it can play a role for plants too and for humans who live in colder or hotter climates. (I got this incorrect because it’s not Polarity that does this also because I wrote a lot about the living organisms and what’s the importance of it I’m not sure if that was a great answer. And I have to explain why it’s wrong and then when I get the correct one I have to explain why its right.
