For the above problem we have 12 samples which show the following data: 255.2, 254.8, 254.8, 254.8, 254.9, 255.1, 225.0, 254.7, 255.1, 255.2, 254.7, 254.6, 255.3. The company wants to know if the average weight of the data is equal to 255 or if it is different, in order to measure the quality of the product. Therefore, we can resort to a hypothesis test to tell us whether our hypothesis is correct or not. In this case our null hypothesis would be H0, saying that µ=255.
While our alternative hypothesis, H1, tells us that µ is not 255.
