Question

Observe the relationship between torque and angular momentum.

Expert Solution
Step 1

Torque on a body τ ( in Nm)  ,about point O, given as

                                              τ = r X                        .....................................(1)

 where       F= force acting on body (in N)

                   r= position vector of force F, about point O (in m)

Angular momentum of a body L (in kg m2 /s) about point O, given as

                             L= r X p

                             L= r X mv                                ..............................................(2)

  where     p=linear momentum of body  (in kg m/s)   [p=mv where m =mass of body and v=velocity of body]

                  r=  position vector of momentum p ,about point O (in m)
