Expert Solution
Step 1

The following are necessary for prokaryote polypeptide synthesis to begin:

mRNA, the 30S ribosome subunit, and 3. the tRNA formylmetheonyl; 4. The IF-i, IF-2, and IF-3 initiation factors GTP, 50S ribosomal subunit, Mg+2, and number five the series of activities that take place during initiation are:

1. The transcription factor IF-3 is bound by the smaller 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing the two ribosomal subunits from joining together too soon.

2. The initiation codon AUG is correctly positioned at the site of the ribosome due the interaction between the SD region of the mRNA and the ASD region of the ribosome.

3. The P site on the AUG codon is where the fMet-tRNA, a particular tRNA that has been aminoacylated to formyl methionine, binds. The only tRNA that associates with its codon at the P site is the tRNA; all other tRNAs and their associated amino acids associate with their codons at the A site.
