The sequence of genes in a hypothetical animal cell is normally A-B-C-D.  This results in normal development.  Due to a mutation, the genes change position (A-C-D-B) resulting in abnormal development.  This research was originally conducted and verified by which biologist?

Question

The sequence of genes in a hypothetical animal cell is normally A-B-C-D.  This results in normal development.  Due to a mutation, the genes change position (A-C-D-B) resulting in abnormal development.  This research was originally conducted and verified by which biologist?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The sequence of genes in a hypothetical animal cell's progress in genome sequencing has led to a rapid accumulation in the GenBank submissions of uncharacterized ‘hypothetical’ genes. These genes, which have not been experimentally characterized and whose functions cannot be deduced from simple sequence comparisons alone, is comprise of significant fraction of the public databases. Expression analyses of Haemophilus influenzae cells using a combination of transcriptomic and proteomic approaches resulted in confident identification of the 54 ‘hypothetical’ genes that were expressed in cells under normal growth conditions.
