Question

Thymine is a nitrogenous base or nucleosides?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The primary structure of a protein is encoded in the sequence of a nucleic acid. The nucleic acid is a polymer that contains monomers called nucleotides. There are two different types of nucleic acids in the cell: DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid).

Each nucleotide monomer includes three constituents: a nitrogenous base (also called nucleobase), a five-carbon sugar (ribose or deoxyribose), and a phosphate group.
