- Kindly provide and develop potential answers tothe questions below. To what extent are you content with the prevailing retention policies for public servants in Monserrat? What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding in terms of retention? Have you ever considered leaving your position within the public service? If yes, what were the primary reasons?1) Are CEOs and key executives worth the large pay packages they receive? Explain. 2) Do you agree with Peter Drucker that corporate executives should receive compensation packages no larger than a percentage of the pay of hourly workers? Explain. 3) Do you think that executives in the broader public sector, such as hospital executives, should receive such large pay packages? The morale among FEMA employees was as bad as the agency’s performance. Having grown from a complicated background, the agency struggled to cope with an uncertain mission. FEMA’s predecessors, including parts of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation during the Roosevelt administration and the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration during the 1960s and 1970s, had for decades worked to provide disaster relief. Then, during the Cold War, it became responsible for planning to help the nation recover in case of nuclear attack. The agency became FEMA in 1979, but its very different responsibilities never did fit neatly together. It had the tough job of acting like a local fire department--it needed to be ready to respond instantly to a wide range of disasters, wherever they might occur. But unlike most local fire departments, it found itself chronically underfinanced. It was an independent agency without a cabinet-department home. No one wanted to spend much money on the agency in…
- There have been, at least, two senior officials in Government (in the previous regime and in the current government) who have been caught up in a public scandal involving their indiscretion through confidential pictures or videos. The Executive wing of Government is concerned about this and wishes to curb such occurrences from occurring among government leaders. Since you have learnt about the pillars of Corporate Governance, you have been requested to develop a leadership code of conduct that must provide guidance on how leaders who get caught up in such scandals must behave or be treated and also how such incidences must be prevented and discouraged among leaders in the government. Prepare a brief report summarizing your presentation to CabinetFilm subject Justin Rosenstein says, “ You look over at the other [political] side, and you start to think, ‘How can those people be so stupid? Look at all of this information that I’m constantly seeing. How are they not seeing that same information?’ And the answer is: they are not seeing that same information.” Do you think it’s important for everyone to have the same set of facts? Do you follow people and sources you disagree with? Why or why not?Public leadership is difficult because of the dual demands to manage government efficiently and effectively and reach out to other organizations to forge governance coalitions to make good policy that solves public problems. How do corruption and mismanagement present a challenge to effective leadership, and are the controls on corruption and under-performance sufficiently effective to make a difference?
- In the 1940s two political theorists, Carl J. Friedrich and Herman Finer, debated a critical question of accountability in American public administration: whether professional norms or external controls were necessary to keep administrators accountable. In other words, how much can we rely on the laws to keep administrators in check and how much can we rely on the uniform training of our administrators? Reenact this historic debate. Which do you think is a better accountability measure: external or internal controls and/or the personal character of the administrator? How do you support your choice? As you know the text deconstructs both of these ideas saying that in the current policy environment neither are effective. Why is this the case? What do you think is the solution to keeping administrators accountable in the 21st century?Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development, commonly known as Acted is a French humanitarian non-governmental organisation that has three crucial ethical issues that have been faced by actual organizations throughout the years (such as equality at the workplace, racial and sexual harassment, corporate sustainability, corporate governance, corporate citizenship, environmental sustainability and/or globalization) and explain why it is essential for a management team to handle them. You are expected to demonstrate an analytical knowledge and critical understanding of different ethical perspectives, including ethical business objectives. Give present specific examples of Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (Acted). The recent widespread scandal at Wells Fargo jolted and shocked the corporate world. How could such internal corrupt and outrageously illegal and unethical activities by professionals have occurred? Wells Fargo is “an American multinational financial services company headquartered in San Francisco, California” with offices nationwide and “the world’s second-largest bank by market capitalization and the third largest bank in the U.S. by total assets.” In September 2016 it was discovered that the company was continuing to create fake customer accounts to show positive financial activity and gains. 5,000 salespeople had created 2 million fake customer accounts to meet high-pressure internal sales goals, including a monthly report called the “Motivator.” The out-of-control sales leadership pressured sales employees to meet unrealistic, outrageous sales targets. Dramatically unrealistic sales goals propelled by continuous pressure from management coerced employees to open accounts for…
- How would a stakeholder approach, if taken by the companys top leaders and board of directors, have possibly prevented the crisis?Read the article posted in this module titled "Confucius on Management: Understanding Chinese Cultural Values and Managerial Practices" and watch this short (4:29) video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFt_VGG0kJU Choose one of Confucius's teachings and describe how that principle relates to your personal ethical perspective. Is it quite similar or quite different? Be sure to cite your sources.Read and analyze the following situation: You work for a business that sells cleaning products for hospitals on an industrial level. The mission of the business is to position itself as a leader in the industry of cleaning products for hospitals at an industrial level throughout Puerto Rico. Recently, the company developed an evaluation of the Human Resources area and they realized that the policies for recruiting and selecting employees were not clear and that there was no evidence of their effectiveness. In addition, the number of employee turnover had increased significantly, and supervisors complain that when a vacancy arises, it takes months for Human Resources to identify a replacement for the available position. In the past, the process only consisted of filling out an application, conducting an evaluation of the candidate's resume, conducting an interview with a supervisor, and giving the selected candidate a brief orientation by the director of Human Resources at the…
