Robertsonian translocation is a chromosomal aberration that involves fusion of long arms of two acrocentric chromosomes. These are replicated over and over such that the short arms of these chromosomes are lost over time. Acrocentric chromosomes are the ones who have centromere at one end of the chromosome. Humans have 5 acrocentric chromosome pairs that are 13, 14, 15, 21 and 22.
