What is a motor unit? Explain why the size of motor units
can be different in different muscles

Expert Solution
Step 1

Introduction:

The contractile tissue that brings about a movement is muscle. Muscles can be regarded as the motor of the body. There are three different categories of muscles, namely,

  • Skeletal
  • Smooth
  • Cardiac

The muscle cells comprise protein filaments, namely, myosin and actin, that slide upon one another, which results in the generation of contraction modifying the length and shape of the cell. The muscles work together for the generation of force and motion.
