Question

What is the assocation between sugar and obesity?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Obesity is a treatable disease in which the body gains an excessive amount of weight which is above the normal weight as per the body mass index (BMI). People who are obese are at a higher risk of heart diseases.

Step 2

When we consume sugar, the body produces insulin which regulates the blood glucose level in our body. But when we consume too much sugar, the body generates too much insulin. This increased concentration of insulin in our body acts as a regulator switch for leptin. This means that when concentration of insulin is increased, the leptin is increased, and the fat digesting mechanism slows down. As a result, there will be loss of appetite.
