What is the best sequential approach to teaching students how to write proofs about parallel lines

There are different pairs of angles like vertically opposite angles, corresponding angles, interior alternate angles, and exterior alternate angles. With the help of good observation one can decide whether the lines are parallel.    

If the corresponding angles along the two lines and transversal are equal, then these two lines are parallel.
