According to the dopamine hypothesis, the symptoms of schizophrenia that include hallucinations, and delusions takes place due to the irregular and increased dopaminergic signal transduction in which the level of dopamine rises irregularly by the effect of stimulants while the newer brain circuit view explains that disfunction in the glutamatergic signal transduction also results in the symptoms of the schizophrenia which means dopamine and glutamate both influence the symptoms of the schizophrenia.
